compression
Hi, posted a message to the tinc list few days ago, but seems that there is not that much going on on that list, so I try here. The homepage of tinc says it compresses all traffic, but the manpage says that it only compresses UDP packets. Which one is true? Another thing, how much active development is going on with tinc at the moment? I see that "version 2" is mentioned. Or is there

lzo compression support for tinc
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I've added lzo compression support for tinc 1.0pre8. Lzo is a very fast compressor (see http://www.oberhumer.com/opensource/lzo/). I've implemented it by using two new compression levels. Compression level 10 is for fast compression using lzo1x-1 algorithm. Compression level 11 is for slow compression using lzo1x-999 algorithm.

Problem when one node is N/A
Hi Tincers, I installed tincd on three desktops, two are used as servers because they have an static IP. The third is a Laptop with various Lan's. Everything works fine, as long as all two servers are running, the Laptop connect to both servers. When one server becomes anavailable, the connections to the other server interrups every 30 secondeds when tinc trys to connect to the server that

tinc and zlib compression
I set out to add compression to tinc, so it whould chuck the data through zlib before encrypting, and get the real stuff back after decryption on the other side. Unfortunately, I ran out of time. The compress/decompress stuff should work, but config stuff needs to be finished. Sorry for the sloppy, unfinished work, I only hope its somehow useful to you guys anyway. -- lrwxrwxrwx 1 paranoid

Sockets not non-blocking when compiling with MingW
Hello. When tinc is compiled with MingW, sockets are not made non-blocking because O_NONBLOCK is not defined anywhere. This leads to weird timeouts when one or more hosts part of a VPN are unreachable, because tinc hangs in connect() (and possibly other places as well). This guy is probably experiencing this bug: http://brouwer.uvt.nl/pipermail/tinc/2007-April/001646.html I've attached a

Almost working
Dev-Cpp is a IDE that can be used with MinGW and GCC but its causing problems. I installed MinGW since I am used to ./configure type builds but im unsure if this is a tinc issue or OpenSSL issue. I installed openssl 0.9.8e and I get to the following, $./configure ... checking openssl/evp.h usability... yes ... checking for openssl/engine.h... yes checking for SHA1_version in -lcrypto... no

[PATCH] Eternal flush, memory leaks
Using tincd 1.0.7, if I send a SIGALRM to tincd when a host is unresolvable, it gets stuck in a nasty loop: Feb 12 19:33:02 rosalyn tinc.slamb.org[2925]: Got ALRM signal Feb 12 19:33:02 rosalyn tinc.slamb.org[2925]: Trying to connect to calvin (216.136.66.56 port 655) Feb 12 19:33:02 rosalyn tinc.slamb.org[2925]: Error looking up slamb- linux.dyn.slamb.org port 4500: Name or service not

ifconfig hw ether and -arp
Hi, Just thought I'd mention that I spent a while battling with tinc today. I had quite a weird behaviour - in routing mode, tinc would come up fine on both hosts, but pinging hosta from hostb wouldn't work until hosta pinged hostb. I've used an earlier version of tinc before in a different environment with no problems, and vaguely remembered a more complicated tinc-up script, so I

Paths not correct for Windows
Hi there, I have set everything up as specified in your online sample. However, when I try and generate the keys, the error "Unable to open config file tinc.conf". The path it seems to be looking for is "c:\program files\tinc/vpn/tinc.conf". I did try specifying the path, using the -c command but tinc still appends "/tinc.conf"! I assume it has something to do
