using smbadduser non-interactively
Hello All, Could someone please tell me if there is a was to use smbadduser in a non-interactive mode and just allow you to enter all of the particular user information on the command line? I need to set up a small script that will automate adding users to the smbpasswd file so that they can login. Cheers, Lonnie -- Lonnie Cumberland OutStep Technologies Incorporated EMAIL:

winver & managed question
Hello All, I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the --managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows --winver Version to imitate (win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20) Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows? Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will look for the

mapping a directory
Hello All, I have installed the latest Wine onto my Linux Redhat 7.2 and it seems to run very well for the most part. I can easily map a Linux directory to a Windows drive, but I actually have a need to be able to map a linux directory to windows subdirectory. About the only way that I can currently think of that might work would be to use a symbolic link on the Linux subsystem. cheers, Lonnie

Is there something missing?
Hello All, I hope that you are all doing well. I have been trying to get Samba setup and running on my Redhat 7.2 box so that users on Windows machines can login and be connected to their directory. The problem is that no matter what I try, I can see the Samba server from the Windows machine, but it keeps telling me that the password was not recognized and is the same linux password for each

While testing an application that I have been working with, I have found

How to connect across the Internet
Hello All, Well my Samba server is up and running good, but I am now needing to be able to let some of my users connect to our server who is not located on our local network. Actually they are located some distance away and I would like to be able to allow then to connect. Has anyone had any success with this and how it might be done? Is netname used in metadata connections ?
Hi all, I am trying to setup a configuration of Tinc to allow multiple tincd daemons for a same network (mixing bonding, etc...). I will post my solution later if I found one. This is to get better speeds in multiple gigabit/sec networks. So my question is not about this directly. I would like to know if the "netname" configured on each node, is used somewhere in communications

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
If you have multiple ConnectTo statements in your tinc.conf, then tinc will attempt to establish connections with *all* of them. It is not a fallback, though it is a good idea for every node to have at least two direct connections for improved resiliency and fault tolerance. As to whether you should have just one tinc network or multiple networks, well, that depends on what you're trying to

netname dependent segfault
Hi list ... I just observed a stange segfault: It seems tinc doesn't like my surname. # tincd -n Sattler -K Segmentation fault I tried several other netnames, there is no problem. The segfault only hap- pens with "Sattler" (capital "S"). I'm using tinc-1.0.22-r2 from Gentoo. Thomas

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
That's exactly right. Corollary: if you take one node from a tinc network and connect it to a node from another isolated tinc network, the two networks become one :) On 1 May 2017 at 13:16, Bright Zhao <startryst at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, Etienne > > Thanks for your clarification, and this helped a lot. Optional WHOIS netname on login banner
I think this is probably my first post to this mailing list, so hello! Occasionally I log in to my servers from IP addresses without reverse DNS configured, so sometimes I'll see an IP I don't recognise because I can't remember what I did the day before and get a bit spooked until I WHOIS the IP and find the netname reminds me I logged in from that IP. I set out prepared to script

What exactly is the meaning of "Subnet" parameter in tinc/$NETNAME/hosts/$SOMEHOSTNAME?
Hi, Subnet there means as , for this subnet you can reach via me (for ip route command). For the host file there, means i am responsible for this area. Any packet going to this area will pass through me. Your vpn can have multiple subnet/area. You can use hostname as the gateway but must make the dns resolv correct, and it will need more config. You need to understand about subnetting to

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
Hi, Tinc experts I’m on-boarding for Tinc for just quite a few days, and trying to setup the connection between one client to multiple server, where multiple vpn tunnels from the client to different server. From the documentation, it indicate the tinc.conf can support multiple ConnecTo, also the tinc can support multiple netname, like /etc/tinc/net1, /etc/tinc/net2. My question is, for my above

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
Hi, Etienne Thanks for your clarification, and this helped a lot. And in order to get a better understanding for the mechanism of Tinc and the purpose of ConnectTo statement, can I think the ConnectTo is the way to get the node into the Tinc VPN domain, instead of establish VPN connection between nodes. Once any node ConnectTo the Tinc VPN domain, it learns all other nodes, subnets, and

What exactly is the meaning of "Subnet" parameter in tinc/$NETNAME/hosts/$SOMEHOSTNAME?
Hello, I am not very good at linux networking. I have read tinc documentation multiple times and I still don't understand what the "Subnet = ..." directive does in /etc/tinc/$NET_NAME/hosts/$HOST_NAME Right now I have a simple virtual lan organized with tinc, and I use the following in every device's config file (replacing the last part of the address): # This computer will
