Tinc on OsX, slowly getting there....
I have now got the tinc demons (on network OFFICES) on BranchB and
BranchA talking to each other, and I have been able to access
services (like AFP, Apple file sharing) between the two hosts (in
both directions), but not beyond the local network connected to
BanchA.
I am unclear which routing can be provided by tinc and which routing
would I have to add manually.
The aim is:

Tinc on OsX, partial success
I have now got the tinc demons (on network OFFICES) on BranchB and
BranchA talking to each other, see below for log from BranchB. For
some trouble shouting issues relating to OsX see at the end of my
e-mail.
However, I have not yet achieved the network connectivity/routing
that I would like.
The aim is:
BranchB is a laptop
I would like to connect it (via tinc) to my office network, so that

Pinging win from FreeBSD
Hello Samba folks,
I thought you might be able to help me.
I have 2 machines, 1 is FreeBSD, 1 is win95. They can't ping each other, but
the bsd box comes up in Network Nieghborhood when Samba is active. What's
going on? Is it not possible to ping a windows machine from a unix box? They
are on the same hub via UTP. IPs are 192.168.1.x and netmasks are same

dovecot freezes when trying to get mail from maildir with mail
I'm completely stumped by this problem and I've tried everything at
present - including installing dovecot from scratch.
The problem is that when trying to get email from the server -AND-
there's email in the account, the pop3 or imap process freezes and no
email is fetched. The crazy thing is, that it has been working
perfectly, but suddenly I'm getting these freezes both

re: hardware requirement -asterisk
Referring to my previous post about degradation of voice quality when
having more than 2 connection.
The actual route is:
pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel -> local asterisk
I have tried out a different situation:
pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel
and the second connection
pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel -> local asterisk
The same degradation

upsc "Error: ... Can't assign requested address"
Hello there.
I've just install nut 2.2 from source on my FreeBSD box. I have an MGE
AVR 600 UPS on a USB cable. Following the INSTALL instructions,
everything works in term of the USB driver detecting the right UPS and
upsd loads up and runs without error.
However, upsc reports the following error:

still mbuf leak in 9.0 / 9.1?
Hi list,
since we activated 10gbe on ixgbe cards + jumbo frames(9k) on 9.0 and now on 9.1 we recognize that after a random period of time, sometimes a week, sometimes only a day, the
system doesn't send any packets out. The phenomenon is that you can't login via ssh, nfs and istgt is not operative. Yet you can login on the console and execute commands.
A clean shutdown isn't possible

Sip to Sip
I appologize if this was already answered somwhere on http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk, I'm sure it probably is. And if you wish to just point me to a link that would be appreciated. I am very new to asterisk and unix all around, so these questions may sound rather ignorant.
First being, how do I setup asterisk to point to another asterisk server and make all the lines which should

ath(4) and 802.11g speed
So, with the updated HAL, I'm now able to negotiate an IP address via DHCP
over the WLAN. Huzzah!
But I've got two questions (now that I can use the card):
ath(4) doesn't contain a list of media nor mediaopt settings that can be
used. Some are detailed down in EXAMPLES, but there's no comprehensive
list. (As well, and this is minor, the speeds are explicitly listed for

re: hardware requirement asterisk
This is ifconfig on openbsd box:
fxp0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
I think this output shows that the fxp0 interface is on simplex mode.
The voice degradation I referred was by using xlite soft phone. I open 2
line similtaneously and dial to FWD and back to my incoming extension.
Xlite is runnning on a w2k box with realtek 100M nic in auto mode. I can

Fw: VPN setup problem - proxy arp I think
Hi all,
I read the setup at http://www.blackh0le.net/articles/vpn-dun-howto.html to setup my VPN.
However, I'm having a problem which I think is proxy-ARP not working. I like to ask you to see if you know what's going on. When I ping 10.77.1.1 from windows XP machine the packets get to the 10.77.1.1 machine, but they don't have a return path to get back. When I do ping the windows

re(4) problems with GA-H77N-WIFI
Hello,
I need some advice how to debug this issue ...
Recently I got a new mainboard for a router, it's a
Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI with two onboard re(4) NICs.
The problem is that re0 works fine and re1 doesn't:
It doesn't receive any packets. Tcpdump displays all
outgoing packets, but no incoming ones on re1.
Ifconfig shows the link correctly (100 or 1000 Mbit,

bge on the new Mac Mini
Hi all,
Over the last month or so I've installed FreeBSD 9 (-stable) on several Mac
Minis via the memstick image; they seem to be pretty good little boxes for
things like offsite secondary nameservers, for example, and they're easily
replaced in case of problems.
However, the newest minis have slightly different hardware, and FreeBSD can't
find the built-in NIC. pciconf -lv on the
