Address Variabme for Roadwarriors
Hello All, I was just looking over how to set up the hosts files for Tinc and was wondering about how to handle Roadwarriors? It appears that the variable "Address=" must be set for individuals to connect to a host, right? Also, I am wondering about possibly using a private DNS+DHCP server combination that would allow the 10.x.x.x users to have their VPN ip resolved but this does

Tinc with RoadWarriors
Hi again, which is the recommended procedure to get users (roadwarriors) with their windows laptops connected to the tinc daemon running on our firewall? What should we install on the laptop and how should we configure it? Thanks Andy Tinc: Discussion list about the tinc VPN daemon Archive: http://mail.nl.linux.org/lists/ Tinc site: http://tinc.nl.linux.org/

dynamic adding of nodes
Thanks Guus for answering all of these many emails. I now had a question as to if it is possible for something like this. Suppose that you have a Tinc VPN network made up of 4 nodes (A, B, C, D) and you want to dynamically add new nodes (E, F). How can this be done without having to re-start all of the nodes A-D? Based upon what I can see, each node condifuration files need to be modified

IPSEC vs OpenVPN
While I have concentrated on support for 2.6 native IPSEC in release 2.2.0, I am still of the opinion that unless you absolutely need IPSEC compatibility that OpenVPN is a much easier (and in the case of roadwarriors, a much better) solution. Having already generated all of the required X.509 certificates, it took me less than 1/2 hr to replace my IPSEC testbed with an OpenVPN one using the new

Hello, i have got a problem with the configuration of an roadwarrior ipsec VPN tunnel with shorewall 2.2.3. IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
Hi all, I''ve been using Shorewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a FreeS/WAN IPSEC

Is there something missing?
Hello All, I hope that you are all doing well. I have been trying to get Samba setup and running on my Redhat 7.2 box so that users on Windows machines can login and be connected to their directory. The problem is that no matter what I try, I can see the Samba server from the Windows machine, but it keeps telling me that the password was not recognized and is the same linux password for each

IPSec and Roadwarrior
Tom, After reading your latest postings, I am correct in understanding that, even with the netfilter-ipsec and policy patches in kernel 2.6, I still would not be able to connect more that one roadwarrior at a time? Mitch

using smbadduser non-interactively
Hello All, Could someone please tell me if there is a was to use smbadduser in a non-interactive mode and just allow you to enter all of the particular user information on the command line? I need to set up a small script that will automate adding users to the smbpasswd file so that they can login. Cheers, Lonnie -- Lonnie Cumberland OutStep Technologies Incorporated EMAIL:

Hello All, I am new to using wine on my Linux redhat 7.2 so please forgive the dumb questions, ok. Best VPN server for * and woad warriors using windows?
Hi list! I'm sure the topic has been discussed but I could not find what I was looking for. What would be the best / easiest VPN software solution. I would like to install vpn software on the * server for roadwarriors to connect to with laptops running windows. Ideally the vpn solution will not require any additional software on the client side but will use IPSEC. (Ofcourse call quality

winver & managed question
Hello All, I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the --managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows --winver Version to imitate (win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20) Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows? Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will look for the

mapping a directory
Hello All, I have installed the latest Wine onto my Linux Redhat 7.2 and it seems to run very well for the most part. I can easily map a Linux directory to a Windows drive, but I actually have a need to be able to map a linux directory to windows subdirectory. About the only way that I can currently think of that might work would be to use a symbolic link on the Linux subsystem. cheers, Lonnie

Switch mode three-node routing problem
Dear tinc community, I am using tinc in switch mode. I have three nodes. Two nodes reside on routers, vpn-eth is bridged with internal lan, each router has several machines connected to it's internal lan. Third node is the roadwarrior - "endpoint" linux PC. When the roadwarrior is off - everything works perfectly, machines on both sides can communicate without a problem in any

IPSEC-2.6 Roadwarrior
I''ve successfully tested an IPSEC Roadwarrior configuration where both the gateway and the roadwarrior are runniing 2.6 with Racoon. The Shorewall IPSEC-2.6 documentation (http://shorewall.net/IPSEC.htm) has been updated to reflect my experimentation. Note that you can get the new ''ipsecvpn'' script from CVS until I release RC1 in the next day or so. -Tom -- Tom

Tinc and multi-netname setting on single machines with 1 ethernet card
greetings All, I have been reading over the Tinc manual and have become very interested in the "4.2 Multiple Networks" section of the manual. In particular, I am wondering if I read this correctly in that by using: `-n, --net=netname' Use configuration for net netname. then I can have multiple daemons running on the same machine. If I have 3 machines A, B, and C with A being

MULTIPLE IPSEC TUNNELS
I am have a shorewall firewall and freeswan ipsec running on a redhat 8.0 Linux gateway machine. I have one working tunnel defined, all works well. I am not clear how to define mutiple concurrent tunnels. I can not add further interface entries as all the tunnels come in on ipsec0, do I still have mutiple zone definitions? some of the tunnels will be dynamic roadwarriors and as such would need a

couldn't open file alert box
Hello All, I have been working with the latest release of Wine after finding out that the recent CVS version would not run because of some error in loading the user32.dll. Currently I have implemented the bitblt Maskblt routine and is working, but still experiencine some little problems with the masking of the icon images. While testing an application that I have been working with, I have found
