Oggenc producing a different file every time
We are using the Ogg file format in our game Awesomenauts. Now whenever I
rebuild our compressed music files from our uncompressed sources (WAV to
OGG), oggenc.exe produces different files. They sound the same, but there
are differences in the file. I did a checksum on the hex, and it turns out
there are small pieces of similar differences throughout the file.
This is a serious problem for us:

ext3 and secure deletion of files and file slack
Hi,
Can anyone please tell me if I am right in assuming that ext3
does not care about file slack? Specifically I am thinking about
the use of the secure_delete utility which, includes "sfill" to
do secure overwriting of the unused diskspace on the harddisk.
I quote from the secure_delete README below for its modus
operandi (I appreciate that some of this will not apply to
sfill).

Using array's in Puppet (in combination with Augeas).
Hi,
I have been struggling with arrays in puppet in combination with
Augeas. I have written a define to configure network interfaces on
Debian based distributions using Augeas. One of the requirements is
the possibility to use the up/down mechanism.
This where I run into a snag. Everything works fine until I try to
setup more than than one up rule. First some code examples of the

Another idea for tinc on windows
Since the lack of code to implement a virtual network adapter driver
(tun/tap equivalent) seems to be the primary roadblock preventing a tinc
port to Windows, has anyone given any thought to the idea of implementing
a very basic pptp server front-end for the tinc code (in place of the
tun/tap driver) whose sole purpose would be to allow a windows PPTP client
connection to connect to it via a

sftp Client for Windows XP
Folks,
Excuse my ignorance on the subject but I'm new to OpenSSH and have been
tasked to write a 'sftp' Client for a home-grown application that runs on a
Windows platform.
The answers to my questions is probably on the List Archives but I'm not
able to find it even after a few search attempts.
So here goes...
1. Is it possible to even write a custom 'sftp' client for

Fwd: [Cryptography] Why aren’t we using SSH for everything?
There were a few notes in this thread that may indicate
open areas for development. I forward merely as FYI.

[Fwd: Re: How to generate a .template and .jigdo from an iso image?]
Hi Ralph
I received this e-mail from Fedora Infrastructure list. My problem at
that moment was a proper syntax for the jigdo-file command.
Using the their script as reference, I made a simpler one to test the
command[1]. And it's working:
newt (Linux) $pwd; ls -l *.jigdo *.template
/users/newt2/mgarcia/iso/dvd

[olug] TINC
IPsec Pre Shared Key for enterprise wireless is worse than PPTP according
to https://www.cloudcracker.com/blog/2012/07/29/cracking-ms-chap-v2/ .
Make sure IPsec is used with certificates instead.

Security issues in tinc
Hello,
More than a week ago Peter Gutmann contacted us and showed us a writeup
in which he analysed CIPE, VTun and tinc. A few days ago he posted this
to a cryptography mailing list, and someone posted this on Slashdot.
In response we've added a new section to the website dedicated to the
current security issues. Currently, you can find our response to Peter
Gutmann's analysis there:

Jigdoes of CentOS 4.4 and 5.0 i386/x86_64 CD/DVD available.
I've gone through the trouble (after some 10 rounds I finally have
something I'm happy with) and generated jigdo/template files for
CentOS 5.0 iso's (CD/DVD i386/x86_64) (and CentOS 4.4 while I was at it:
CD/DVD/ServerCD SRPMS/i386/x86_64).
(and I started on this before the thread about creating the DVD's from the
CD's started ;-) )

and 2) a script usable map

Designing Tinc with Threads and Groups
Hello All,
I have been trying to get a feel for the Tinc sources because I would like
to see about developing a version of Tinc that uses threads and also
incorporated the idea of groups so that when a user starts up their daemon
they can join one or more groups.
I know that you can establish multiple "networks" on a single daemon, but
from what I understand, you also have to have

connecting to non-responding hosts: 1 hr timeout (fwd)
Hello all,
If you try to make a TCP connection to a host, and the host is down,
timeouts can be as long as an hour. This is not specific to ssh, or OS.
Is this a scenario worth working around, e.g. with a timer when
connecting or the like?

RE: Fwd: [Cryptography] Why aren’t we using SSH for everything?
Damien,
What is the best document to use for documentation on SFTP? In other words, if I want to build an SFTP client library based on libssh.a, is there documentation about the series of messages I need to send over the wire?
Thanks,
