automesh not working
From the tinc page: "*Automatic full mesh routing-* Regardless of how you set up the tinc daemons to connect to each other, VPN traffic is always (if possible) sent directly to the destination, without going through intermediate hops." That's exactly what's not working for me. Let me illustrate: Both nodes B and C have ConnectTo statements to connect to node A. Node A

tinc detects itself on the VPN due to intermittent connection problems, and dies
A relatively recent update (1-2 months) has introduced a fairly major issue where connection issues seem to cause tinc to decide that there's another node of the same name on the VPN, leading to it quitting. It seems that it's detecting itself somehow, through an older connection, perhaps? The daemon stopping itself is a major problem, though, as it has to be manually restarted. I would

NFS4 over tinc hangs
Hello, I am experiencing system hangs when running NFSv4 over a tinc VPN. I don't know if the problem is with NFS or tinc and would appreciate any suggestions on how to narrow down the culprit. Unfortunately I cannot simply run NFS directly over TCP -- the participating systems are connected only over an open network. The configuration is as follows: I have a master server

Tinc and OpenWRT
Hey Saverio, I'd really like the idea of a tinc-1.1-pre package for OpenWRT. I'm currently using tinc-1.1 with an Ed25519-only network, really like the new features and CLI and want to add some OpenWRT routers into the mix. How do you plan to handle things with OpenSSL? tinc-1.1 from git should be able to compile without it (but will then only support the built-in algorithms). Depending

Tinc and OpenWRT
Greetings. I'm new to tinc, but have so far managed to get a couple laptops and a hosted server all connected. They're working as expected, running Tinc 1.1-pre11, which I compiled from source. Next I want to move on to adding my home router into the mix. My routers run OpenWRT. I don't have experience compiling anything from source for OpenWRT, but OpenWRT has Tinc 1.0.25

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
Hi, Tinc experts I’m on-boarding for Tinc for just quite a few days, and trying to setup the connection between one client to multiple server, where multiple vpn tunnels from the client to different server. From the documentation, it indicate the tinc.conf can support multiple ConnecTo, also the tinc can support multiple netname, like /etc/tinc/net1, /etc/tinc/net2. My question is, for my above

issues connecting in other sites
Hi Team, I admit that I am not familiar with Tinc very well, but have Tinc running at approximately 20 sites and functioning as a mesh vpn/network. I am having issues adding an additional site as it will not communicate with the rest. I have taken the firmware of one and flashed it on another router to make it duplicate and then tested it working but when I change the hostname, and IP to what we

Hello everyone, ?? I'm new to TINC. Today, I've started using it, and now I've a network on around 9 dedicated servers and 15+ VPS ?? into a single VPN. I switched from OpenVPN. ? ? ?? But, I've a problem adding another node to the VPN. ? ? ?? Basically this node is a VPS with two IPs, on a single eth0, with eth0 -> IP1, eth0:1 -> IP2. IP1 and IP2 are on ?? different

Show the subnets learnt and update configuration without reset?
1. Is there any tools/command, we can show the subnet where a certain tinc nodes learnt? So that I can know the weight for certain subnet(in real time), instead of go back to the node’s (who advertise the subnet) configuration file to check. 2. So far in order to change the weight of a subnet, or something else, I have to reset the tinc daemon( tincd -k -n myvpn and then tincd -n myvpn) in

Is netname used in metadata connections ?
Hi all, I am trying to setup a configuration of Tinc to allow multiple tincd daemons for a same network (mixing bonding, etc...). I will post my solution later if I found one. This is to get better speeds in multiple gigabit/sec networks. So my question is not about this directly. I would like to know if the "netname" configured on each node, is used somewhere in communications

Concept clarification between multiple ConnecTo and multiple netname
Hi, Etienne Thanks for your clarification, and this helped a lot. And in order to get a better understanding for the mechanism of Tinc and the purpose of ConnectTo statement, can I think the ConnectTo is the way to get the node into the Tinc VPN domain, instead of establish VPN connection between nodes. Once any node ConnectTo the Tinc VPN domain, it learns all other nodes, subnets, and

Bug: more than one Port line in host file crashes tincd
I found a tincd crash caused by having two "Port" statements in a host's file. I realize this is a bug in an old version of tinc that may be fixed but I spent the past few hours tracking it down so I'm sharing it in hopes others can make use of this info. I was "cleaning" up my Tinc VPN of a collection of OpenWrt routers and tincd started crashing with "Got fatal

TCPOnly is required since 1.0.13?
Hi, I upgraded some of my Tinc nodes from 1.0.8 recently and found something strange. All of a sudden, the vpn would not work as a full-mesh. Certain nodes were not contactable. I re-generated my rsa-keys, and checked my configuration. My vpn uses the following in tinc.conf, as I am routing both ipv4 and v6. === name = node1 mode = switch AddressFamily = any PMTU = 1280 PMTUDiscovery = yes

tincctl localhost timeout
First off, thanks to all who have made tinc possible and continue to work developing it. I hope perhaps in time I can become a useful part of this community. :) I'm having an interesting issue with tincctl and was hoping someone could shed some light on it. Everything seems to work correctly when I build for OSX; however on linux and windows builds, I always receive connection

Optional WHOIS netname on login banner
I think this is probably my first post to this mailing list, so hello! Occasionally I log in to my servers from IP addresses without reverse DNS configured, so sometimes I'll see an IP I don't recognise because I can't remember what I did the day before and get a bit spooked until I WHOIS the IP and find the netname reminds me I logged in from that IP. I set out prepared to script

astdbdir in asterisk.conf has no effect
Hello, On Asterisk 13.19 I'm trying to set astdbdir in /etc/asterisk.conf, but it's not having any effect. For example: # grep astdbdir /etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf astdbdir => /tmp/asterisk /tmp/asterisk exists and is owned by asterisk:asterisk, as the asterisk processing is running as asterisk:asterisk with the config file forced: # ps aux | grep asterisk asterisk 3389 13.1 3.5

Here is some examples of using templates for TINC configurations and settings: In your startup script, BEFORE starting TINC VPN, put a number of entries to configure your VPN: sh ./templatewriter.sh LAN LOSI101 8540 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0 10.99.0.11 10.98.0.11 ConnectTo=LOSI102 ConnectTo= ConnectTo= **PUT MORE ENTRIES HERE FOR MORE COMPLEX VPN setups ######Templatewriter.sh #!/bin/bash
