which process & file taking up disk IO?
I'm having load problems on a server. The bottleneck appears to be disk IO. iostat would show ~100, under %util, during peak usage. i'm running things like clam antivirus, pop, exim, apache, mysql on the server. is there a way to check which process and which file is taking up disk IO? or see what is being written to the disk? i'm very puzzled as the amount of writes is 10 times

cisco 7960 G with *
hi! I'm looking for a robust hardware IP phone which supports SIP protocol inorder to implement a call centre. Have anyone used CISCO SIP phones (eg:- 7960G ) with asterisk. From what I know these CISCO IP phones are very robust and feature rich. Yet I'm nervous whether * don't like CISCO at all. Thoughts are most welcome. denzel. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

Help getting Samba to work (duplicate name on the network!)
Hi, I'm new to Samba. It came with my Linux distribution. I followed directions in my red hat linux book and modified smb.conf. It's partially working. If I type smb: in Nautilus location bar I do see all the windows machines on the network. When I try to log into my windows machine I can see only one directory called: pbrweb. What is that directory? How can I see others? What

I'm not sure where else to ask about this, so please excuse me if this is the wrong forum. In trying to remove a 'nodump' flag on a directory with the 'chflags' command I have noticed that the 'nonodump' flag does not function. I see an open PR for the problem: o [2003/01/09] i386/46912 johan chflags nonodump fails I was wondering when this might be dealt with? Else is

DNS bind - use of /etc/named directory
The '/etc/named.conf.rpmnew' file supplied is a bare minimum to "configure the ... server as a caching only nameserver (as a localhost DNS resolver only)". As soon as you start adding any structure to it things change, not just are added to. See '/usr/share/doc/bind-*/sample/etc/named.conf' for example. Probably the biggest "gotcha" is that as soon as you use

extension.conf and SIP phones.
We would like to setup in house SIP phones with numbered extensions for demonstration purposes. What is the syntax to associate a extension with SIP phone? Does the Dial application have a SIP specific entry for example: Dial,SIP/SIPphone/s|15 When I call from one extension to another I get "User is on the phone". We also have Cisco7960s to test. Currently Have X-Lite setup.

cross-subnet domain join issue
I am one hurdle away from finishing my test PDC with ldap and password sync. Its been a hair raising effort... and if I can solve this one issue, we'll be ready to kick our Windows PDC out the window. When I attempt to initially join the domain ( LOGOS ) from a win2K client residing on a different subnet, I get the following: -------- The following error occured validating the name
