FW: Help with 'switch' mode
Guus:
Thank you for your explanation! My confusion was based on my
misunderstanding of the tun/tap device - I thought it was exactly like a
pcap device, and therefore should've "just worked" in that mode. So,
once you explained how the tun/tap device actually worked, the use of
bridges immediately made sense. I was then able to setup bridges on my
single interface linux

Bridging on os x
Hello,
I've been trying to get bridging working on os x for about a week and
haven't been able to do it. I've exhausted the examples and google and
just can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated, as I'm about
to give up :(
The goal is to join our two 192.168.1.x networks and share a large
192.168.1.x network between the two of us.
Our setup is as follows:

Time series, least squares line
Hello,
I have a time-series of standards measured for Refractive index. They are
daily standards, however, I didn't run one everyday so some days have no
data. I can plot the values, but the x-axis does not represent the correct
time series (i.e. it's just an evenly spaced 1,2,3 type axis). I want to
plot the points with some form of representitive date line on the x-axis. I
don't

Hi Lars
Thank you for reply.
My apologies it is running in "*TAP*" mode.

I have enabled ip forwarding and it seems that bridging rules is enabled

New config directive VpnMask
Hello Mads,
In case you never saw any mail from me, I'm tinc's co-author. It would be
helpful if you'd subscribe to the tinc developpers mailing list. It's not
high volume, but it eases communication.
There's a problem with tinc's boot scripts (at least the debian one, but
that's fixed now). The netmask of the tap devices should be larger than
the one specified with

tinc to secure a wireless network
Hi all and greetings from Australia,
I am looking at a suitable VPN to secure a wireless notebook hanging off
a private, wired network.
Is tinc suitable for this?
specifics:
"notebook" 192.168.205.63
"AProuter" (access point/computer that the notebook will connect to):
192.168.205.31
What numbers should I give to the various nodes?
At this stage, only one notebook VPN:ed

Accessing ip camera through a vpn client
Hi,
I am trying to access devices (ip cams) through clients using the tinc vpn.
Let's demonstrate the problem with two clients:
client name [ip in eth0] [ip in tun0]
gl752 (A) 192.168.1.33 10.0.0.1
xps13 (B) 192.168.1.55 10.0.0.2
I also have an ip camera connected to the local network at 192.168.1.21.
I want to try a situation where I am accessing, from linux box

Re: Is it possible to block ipv6 auto configuration entering the tinc tunnel?
hi
It was not working when i applied the rules on the vpn card. But I wondered if maybe bridging of vpn and eth0 was messing this up. I thought it was enough to only apply it to the vpn card

LocalDiscovery flip flopping and network design tips
@Etienne, I understood your explanation about the Subnet being the network
*inside* the VPN, but the following the example
https://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/proxy-arp/, it seems to have:
Subnet = 192.168.1.0/24
for the office, yet the IP address for the office is 192.168.1.2.
Is that example no longer valid or am I misunderstanding?

Letting linux be the router, allowing dynamic routes, suggestion
No, this would in fact operate as a routing mode instead of bridging.
TAP would be used as a means to push routing to where it belongs, the
linux/bsd/... kernel.
Consider the challenge of having completely dynamic routing between vpn
peers. In one minute I might have 10000 routes towards one specific peer,
and hour latter I might have NONE. And I need to diferentiate each peer at
the kernel

''Agile Web Development'' book
I just started to learn RoR because I need to create a relatively simple
but important application due next month.
The Shopping cart app in this book is going ok but I have a question.
Is the complexity of the shopping cart example in this book
representitive of a real world application?
Note that i am not saying if the application is production quality, I

bridging on debian stable endpoints - clarification
I would like to clarify the email I sent yesterday.
There are two ethernet segments in two different cities that I would
like to operate as one logical network. Both physical lans have a
switch/hub, a gateway with one external IP address that NATs traffic
and can port forward tinc ports to the internal debian stable machine
(where tinc is run), various client computers ('c' in the

tinc - switch mode bridge
Hi
I am testing running tinc in switch mode. , my topology is as follows
Site 1 (tinc-srv01) -> Site 2 (tinc-srv02)
I have configured the bridge interfaces with ip addresses and able to ping
between bridges. I then setup a server on each site and tested layer 2
connectivity between the two servers. Topology as follows.
Server 1 - *Site 1* (tinc-srv01) -> *Site 2* (tinc-srv02) - Server 2

Lion OS X tinc issues.
Hi Folks,
This has been driving me nuts all day. I've been unable to google myself out of it. Maybe someone here can help?
I followed the instructions from:
http://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/macbook-install/
Ubuntu server <-> Ubuntu server works just fine with the same config. Ubuntu server <-> Mac laptop not so much.
The error I'm getting is:

How to set Subnet in a node which act as both server and client role?
You’re talking about Layer 2 bridging by Tinc? The use case here is layer 3 routing, but anyway, thanks for your feedback.

Multiple Networks
Hi,
I'd like to achieve the following:
Network 1 is running with several nodes and port 655
Network 2 is running the same on port 655
Both networks are running independently and have no connection to each
other.
My support machine (network) should connect to both networks without
bridging them (which I can handle through the firewall). But how about
the port definition? Can I connect e.g.
