svn commit emails
Hi A lot of the volume on this list is the SVN commit emails, but there are also people who are subscribed who aren''t currently committers but are interested in internals. I''m thinking of creating a separate wxruby-commit email list to reduce this list''s volume. I''m happy to post updates on development to this list in between releases for those interested

Comments on commit 1406 (rakefile changes)
Alex, The changes to the rakefiles are causing me some problems building on OS X. I am getting the following: rake aborted! undefined method `+'' for nil:NilClass /Users/sean/Archive/Programming/wxRuby_Dev/wxruby2/rakefile:109 I will now go test on Windows Sean

remove installers dir in SVN
Hi I''m thinking of deleting the installers/ directory in SVN. I think it''s redundant now we distribute binary gems, and it''s nearly a meg in size so it slows down checkouts. Shout if I''m wrong. Meanwhile, happy christmas, and thanks for all your work on wxruby2 this year! Alex

Problems installing/running svn-code
Hi, The last couple of days I''ve been trying to get back on the wxRuby-horse however I''ve ran into some problems while compiling/testing the subversion sources. Mind, the 1.9.2 official release works fine. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. The first hurdle was that the rake install target doesn''t work. It fails on rakewx.rb:145. Looking into it I found that

tagged 0.0.37; release plans
Hi I just tagged 0.0.37 in Subversion. I also added a note on the Wiki on how to do this, and how to checkout a clean version: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Release_HowTo For the build, I''m just about to upload a tarball, and will add a powerpc gem once the compiler''s chugged away. Please upload for your platform as you''re ready. I suggest we announce

Welcome to wxruby-development
This list is intended to be used by developers OF wxruby, to discuss highly technical internals, SWIG issues, the development process, and other topics that would not be of interest to folks who simply want to write an app that uses wxruby. Questions or comments about building or installing wxruby should probably go to the wxruby-users list. Questions about the API or runtime errors also

First drop of new memory management
Hi Just a quick update on memory leaks etc. I''ve just dropped a bunch of patches with a new approach to linking ruby''s GC to Wx''s memory handling. Still some work to do - eg bigdemo.rb falls over quite quickly - but working well for me on other samples. Briefly, it disposes of fixdeleting. For almost all objects that aren''t Windows, they should now be

Window#create
Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any circumstances where the "create" methods that all Windows have are useful? They end up producing quite a lot of C++ code so I might try undeffing them if they''re useless. Alex

1.9.5 gem for OS X
Alex & Mario, I uploaded the OS X gem, I am unable to download it. Keep getting 404 Not Found errors. It seems like the file has not been spread out to the mirrors. Can one of you try it out and see if it is working? If not can Alex just remove it and I will try again later after work. Thanks Sean

tag and release 0.0.36
I''m planning to tag 0.0.36 and release binaries from it. We have lots of good new methods & classes & samples (mainly thanks to Roy), and I would like to get a unicode Windows binary gem out there. TODO are integrate Scintilla on OS X and Linux, and apply Tobias''s patches to rakefiles. These''ll be for early in 0.0.37. Maybe someone with Subversion experience

I''m using windows, if I find the time I''ll try to build it myself. Otherwise I''ll just wait for the next gem. Thanks for a great job on wxruby2 btw! tag and release 0.0.38
Hi I''d like to tag and release 0.0.38 in the next week or so. I know we still have a nasty GC bug on windows, but I''m thinking we could just tell people to use GC.disable for the time being if that avoids the problem. After all, it''s not meant for production use yet. This would make other recent bugfixes and enhancements available. Plus having a binary build out
