vpn with shortcuts?
Hi all, There's long time I'm having problems with a vpn... I'd be glad if somebody could check my current setup. Our problem is we're having tinc-vpn shortcuts while we have no bandwidth problem nither 'ssh' trouble. I attached some log lines from both the "server" and the "client". Centos 5 [Beta] on 3ware 9650se controller
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that CentOS 5 Beta (or likely final) supports the 3ware 9650se card. Since 3ware hasn't released a driver disk yet, I put one together. It supports CentOS 5 Beta, and may/should support Final. If anyone is interested, I've posted it here: http://www.truedesign.org/3ware-centos5/ Jason

can't ping to an internal IP through tinc's virtual interfaces
Hi. As I wrote some days ago (It worked! [Was: my two hosts don't see each other]) I succeeded at setting up a tinc VPN between two hosts (isivirtual and pamvirtual) I tried to ping from pamvirtual, the external machine, to an internal IP of 'isivirtual' but it doesn't work. Neither 'traceroute'. What's going on? At 'isivirtual' routing (ip forwarding) is

WinXP Home tincd problem
TincList, I have set up tinc on many windows boxes, and never with this problem before. The machine is running tinc-1.0.2, with all of the proper files set up. We are using the tap-win32 adapter, and it is installed correctly. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter when I saw this problem. No affect. The user running the tincd demon is the administrator, and no personal firewalls are

my two hosts don't see each other
Hi: First of all, thanks for this great piece of software! I found very clear the presentation sheets used at Linux Expo, Amsterdam. :-) About my problem, I setup everything to connect our two boxes. If I type 'ifconfig' I can see them up. Also the routes. ISIvirtual - Our firewall (iptables) which connects to the Internet through ADSL with a public dynamic IP. (the SSL client)

tinc connection only usable after ping from other side
Hi, I implemented a little client server scenario with tinc to give a notebook (connected to the "Server" via WLAN) access to the local lan (both Linux OS). I'll try to explain the problem I got: The configuration seems to be ok: The tinc-connection is set up correctly and after it is set up, the server can ping the client. The problem is, that after the connection is startet the

ping: Bad Code: 6
Still experimenting with the automesh function. In the midst of that, I encountered a new problem. Of the 6 linux boxes in my tinc VPN, 3 were RedHat 9, 1 was Suse 9 Pro, 1 was Fedora Core 1, and one was RedHat 8.0. All was well. They were running a mix of the static binary and locally compiled-from-source binaries. I updated two of the RedHat 9 boxes to Fedora Core 1, about 3 days

Details on tinc's meta protocol
Dear developers, I am interested in understanding in more details how tinc's metaprotocol works. I apologize in advance if this was already described somewhere, I could not find it in the mailing list archive. So let's say machine A has a Address= ip.b.example and manages to contact server B via the meta connection. 1) Then B's tinc daemon will send to A edge and subnet

Bugs related to tinc's initialization in systemd
Hello all, For your information, below are some "bugs" (possible optimizations?), all related, for tinc's initialization in systemd. Since both RedHat and Debian recent distros have switched to systemd,**please** make sure that a solid initialization mechanism is included in precompiled .rpm and .deb packages (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, etc.)

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there! I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so hard as OpenVPN :D Now: I've got 4 questions: question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will tinc work, or it will do as

Question concerning iptables and the example at tinc's homepage
Hi all, hi Guus, in july 2004 i received an e-mail from you concerning the way a packet takes across a (tinc)vpn: > They are forwarded from eth0 to tap0, but the kernel doesn't know that > tinc is forwarding them from tap0 to ippp0. So, the UDP and TCP > packets that tinc sends will be seen by the OUTPUT chain instead of > the FORWARD chain. At the other end, the received UDP

ping out of domU OK ping in to domU not OK
I''ve setup Xen 3.0.2-2 (binary install) on Ubuntu 6.06, got my domUs up and running, got them connected to the Internet but I can''t even ping to any of these VMs. Now I''m not linux/xen genious but could the problem be that xen-br0 doesn''t have an IPv4 address? (it''s got an IPv6 address) Since I don''t use IPv6 on my network this seems a

Has anyone else noticed with CentOS 5, that ping now starts at icmp_seq 1 instead of 0. It's clearly not a problem, just curious if anyone knows why it changed. Graham

Problem with win32-open3 and net-ping
Hi all, I''m seeing strange behavior with net-ping on Windows, which uses win32-open3 (Open3.popen3) behind the scenes. Download (or checkout) net-ping and run this: ruby -Ilib test\tc_pingexternal.rb It looks like the test suite is running twice. What''s happening?
