my two hosts don't see each other
Hi:
First of all, thanks for this great piece of software!
I found very clear the presentation sheets used at Linux Expo,
Amsterdam. :-)
About my problem, I setup everything to connect our two boxes.
If I type 'ifconfig' I can see them up. Also the routes.

can't ping to an internal IP through tinc's virtual interfaces (fwd)
AUGHHHHH I accidentally sent that message below before changing my from address to
jason+tinclist@truedesign.com ... now my "real" address is on
http://mail.nl.linux.org/tinc/2003-07/maillist.html where it is just begging
to be harvested by spambots looking for addresses to add to their spam
lists. I've tried so hard to keep my address spam free for a long time

Two external interfaces, one with "default" route and ping problem
Hi
I have two different IP addresses (in a block of /29), one is on port 0 and the other is on port 2 of a Ciso 888.
I am doing this so I can have two different certs with two different ip addresses.
I have tried:
1) one machine, two real interfaces, two cables (eth0 and eth2)
2) one machine, one real interface eth0 and one virtual interface eth0:1, one network cable
Using number 2)

tinc connection only usable after ping from other side
Hi,
I implemented a little client server scenario with tinc to give a
notebook (connected to the "Server" via WLAN) access to the local lan
(both Linux OS). I'll try to explain the problem I got:
The configuration seems to be ok: The tinc-connection is set up correctly
and after it is set up, the server can ping the client.
The problem is, that after the connection is startet the

ping: Bad Code: 6
Still experimenting with the automesh function. In the midst of that, I
encountered a new problem.
Of the 6 linux boxes in my tinc VPN, 3 were RedHat 9, 1 was Suse 9 Pro,
1 was Fedora Core 1, and one was RedHat 8.0. All was well. They were
running a mix of the static binary and locally compiled-from-source
binaries. I updated two of the RedHat 9 boxes to Fedora Core 1, about 3

Details on tinc's meta protocol
Dear developers,
I am interested in understanding in more details how tinc's metaprotocol
works. I apologize in advance if this was already described somewhere, I
could not find it in the mailing list archive.
So let's say machine A has a
Address= ip.b.example
and manages to contact server B via the meta connection.
1) Then B's tinc daemon will send to A edge and subnet

Bugs related to tinc's initialization in systemd
Hello all,
For your information, below are some "bugs" (possible optimizations?),
all related, for tinc's initialization in systemd.
Since both RedHat and Debian recent distros have switched to
systemd,**please** make sure that a solid initialization mechanism is
included in
precompiled .rpm and .deb packages (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, etc.)

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there!
I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P
I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so
hard as OpenVPN :D
Now: I've got 4 questions:
question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm
also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will
tinc work, or it will do as

Question concerning iptables and the example at tinc's homepage
Hi all,
hi Guus,
in july 2004 i received an e-mail from you concerning the way a
packet takes across a (tinc)vpn:
> They are forwarded from eth0 to tap0, but the kernel doesn't know that
> tinc is forwarding them from tap0 to ippp0. So, the UDP and TCP
> packets that tinc sends will be seen by the OUTPUT chain instead of

I''ve setup Xen 3.0.2-2 (binary install) on Ubuntu 6.06, got my domUs up
and running, got them connected to the Internet but I can''t even ping to
any of these VMs.
Now I''m not linux/xen genious but could the problem be that xen-br0

Since I don''t use IPv6 on my network this seems a

change to ping
Has anyone else noticed with CentOS 5, that ping now starts at icmp_seq
1 instead of 0. It's clearly not a problem, just curious if anyone
knows why it changed.
