issues connecting in other sites
Hi Team, I admit that I am not familiar with Tinc very well, but have Tinc running at approximately 20 sites and functioning as a mesh vpn/network. I am having issues adding an additional site as it will not communicate with the rest. I have taken the firmware of one and flashed it on another router to make it duplicate and then tested it working but when I change the hostname, and IP to what we

Persistent tun/tap
It would be nice if in a next tinc release you'll add some service variables tinc propagates to its scripts. So for example you can define in tinc.conf env variables like: SERVICE1= ... SERVICEn= and tinc will propagates all SERVICEx Variables found in tinc.conf to all scripts it calls. One can use theoretically infinite Env Var for custom behavior (like custom debug messages, conditional

issues connecting to other working sites.
I did notice the that interface we have named br-lan did not have the proper broadcast and netmask information. I adjusted that and it looks like its now connecting but still running into issues. Here is a snipet from the new system we are trying to connect in (from the /var/log/tinc.log file) 2018-03-15 22:57:26 tinc.NETNAME[871]: Read packet of 74 bytes from Linux tun/tap device (tun mode)

Multi tenancy setup by Tinc?
Hi, Guus The use case the shared default gateway for multi-tenant, if that the case the node who own the default gateway will have problem to route with different tenant who has overlapped address scope? Is it true when no any other tools like the namespaces? (tenant1)\ (tenant2)——common node—— shared gw node—— Internet (tenant3)/ But if the each tenant have it’s dedicate default gateway, but

my two hosts don't see each other
Hi: First of all, thanks for this great piece of software! I found very clear the presentation sheets used at Linux Expo, Amsterdam. :-) About my problem, I setup everything to connect our two boxes. If I type 'ifconfig' I can see them up. Also the routes. ISIvirtual - Our firewall (iptables) which connects to the Internet through ADSL with a public dynamic IP. (the SSL client)

Problem withs hosts/ -files & Ethertap with 2.4.x
Hello folks! I have a little problem when I'm trying to set up a small VPN between two hosts. The problem is that when I try to sepcify an IP-adress in /etc/tinc/netname/hosts/hostfile using Adress = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx syslog says; Invalid variable name on line 2 while reading config file /etc/tinc/boppen/hosts/melc (Line 2 is the Adress = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx line, and melc is the host I'm

tincctl localhost timeout
First off, thanks to all who have made tinc possible and continue to work developing it. I hope perhaps in time I can become a useful part of this community. :) I'm having an interesting issue with tincctl and was hoping someone could shed some light on it. Everything seems to work correctly when I build for OSX; however on linux and windows builds, I always receive connection

That's quite hard to do, it's far easier to run four instances of tinc on four different ports on the same machine. >

(/etc/network/interfaces) You can just use the normal /etc/network/interfaces way of configuring the interface, like this: iface vpn inet manual address 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 tinc-net <netname> > Also,

tinc initialization (in both Red Hat and Debian families)
Hello all, Thank you for tinc, that is an **excellent** and useful package! Taking into account that both Red Hat and Debian (8.x) families now use systemd, there is, IMHO, one small. but important correction to be done: tinc's initialization. IMHO, we need: 1. A proper tinc.service file, included by default (prepackaged) in the stock .deb and .rpm packages in Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu,

Is netname used in metadata connections ?
Hi all, I am trying to setup a configuration of Tinc to allow multiple tincd daemons for a same network (mixing bonding, etc...). I will post my solution later if I found one. This is to get better speeds in multiple gigabit/sec networks. So my question is not about this directly. I would like to know if the "netname" configured on each node, is used somewhere in communications

Persistent tun/tap
Ok. I'm configuring my iptables scripts so that specific iptables rules for virtual network interfaces used for tinc go on tinc-up-fw and tinc-down-fw custom scripts. When I reload iptables rules manually to apply changes iptables scripts flush all chains and reapply rules and now also search in /etc/tinc/<netname>/ directories if the related virtual network interface is up and running

purge doesn't remove dead nodes

Is that what you want? This would help since dead nodes do not clutter the visual representation. What are the effects, if any, of dead nodes in the hosts/ dir? Thanks

purge doesn't remove dead nodes
Hi We have several stale nodes in our tinc network and I'd like to remove these. These nodes show up in graph dumps as red nodes, indicating they are unreachable. We run: tinc -n <vpn-name> purge Nothing happens. If we tail the logs at /var/log/syslog, we dont see an ack or message concerning the purge either. The dead nodes still show up in the graphs and their certs are still

Tinc and multi-netname setting on single machines with 1 ethernet card
greetings All, I have been reading over the Tinc manual and have become very interested in the "4.2 Multiple Networks" section of the manual. In particular, I am wondering if I read this correctly in that by using: `-n, --net=netname' Use configuration for net netname. then I can have multiple daemons running on the same machine. If I have 3 machines A, B, and C with A being
