call center - operators not using phone keys
Hi,
I'm considering setting up a small call centre, but I don't want
operators to need to use their phone keypads. Supposedly, all required
call functions (dialling, answering, transfer, on hold, hang up, etc),
should be done via their scripts (be is a web interface, curses or
whatnot) and not using either a regular phone, nor a gnome-phone type
interface.
Also, all this will be happen

read.table()
Hi List,
I have spent more than 30 minutes, but failed to read in this file using the read.table() function. I could not figure out how to fix the following error.
Error in scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings, : line 1 did not have 6 elements
Any help would be be appreciated.
Thanks,

plotting a timeline
I was trying to recreate this kind of timeline plot:
http://www.vertex42.com/ExcelArticles/create-a-timeline.html
As you can see in their excel example, the events are nicely placed out on
both sides of the timeline axis.
AFAIK there is no function to do this nicely in R-project. Furthermore,
graphics and lattice packages are unable to draw the x-axis in the middle of
the plot. (datapoints

Router Recommendations Please
Hello all,
We've discovered that VoIP (IAX2) + Citrix + Video is pegging the measly
CPU on the Netopia router our ISP provided. We've got 3Mb/3Mb and will
increase to 4/4 next year.
The Netopia simply breaks out our WAN IPs, and we've got a switch hooked up
to it on the inside (Actually I've got a QoS box in-between).

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
Grasping at straws here...is anyone using a Dell PowerConnect 2224
24-port unmanaged 10/100 switch in a deployment?
I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where
the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500
phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside
world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1.5

T100P HDLC configuration
All,
I am trying to configure hdlc support on T100P Digium card - everything
seems ok... but it just does not work at all.
I was able to compile all drivers, the light on the card becomes green
when I plug T1 link.... but I even can't ping default router IP... there
is no data coming back to me, so I am confused completely now.
Also I tried both protocols - raw hdlc and cisco hdlc. The

GXP-2000 Audio Quality
I have a client with about 16 GXP-2000. They complain that the audio
quality is terrible after 2 or 3 simultaneous conversations. They are
behind DSL 1.5Mbps down and 256Kbps up. Because they are using G711.u
codec, I know they upstream bandwidth is the limiting factor and they
most likely won't be able to have more than 3 simultaneous
conversations, and if they're surfing the

As a point of clarification: The setup that you're describing isn't

GrandStream Budgetone Phone & DHCP & General Observations
Symptom: Phone after about 15mins will stop functioning
Problem: DHCP lease renewed but default route dropped
Fix: Assign a static ip and problem is resolved. Upgrade to new firmware once it is released
It turn's out that these phones have a few issue in 1.0.3.81 firmware. The phone may stop transmitting packets if configured with DHCP, if DHCP is being provided by certain devices. Netopia

[kind of OT] Software Remote connect to MacOS ?
Hi
sorry for the slighty out of topic question but I''m sure someone here will
be able to answer.
Does anyone use some kind of remote connection to connect to MacOS ? I''m
thinking of using VNC but I''d love to hear from other (especially secure)
alternatives.
I''m just fond of textmate, I have a dell laptop which I''d like to use as a
terminal.

PRI Connected to definity errors
We have setup asterisk to handle our calls before between telco and an
Avaya definity. The PRI keeps locking up every so often.
In addition I keep getting this error when trying to call the avaya:
-- Channel 0/2, span 1 got hangup request, cause 102
-- Hungup 'Zap/2-1'
When that error happens I get a fast busy (congestion) tone.
Any one can point me in the right direction?

NetBIOS over ipsec using samba
I am sure someone has had success getting NetBIOS names to transfer from one
side of a VPN to the other, but I'm not that person (yet). I have read all
available documentation and newsgroups and have exhausted my patience. I
have a linux box running 2.4.21 kernel with Freeswan on each end of a VPN
(its working). I have "Arno's iptables" firewall installed on each end (It

Problema con read.spss
Hola,

Security question for newbie
Hi,
I am using Samba version 3.051 in an Active Directory setting with Windows 2000 server.
Everything is working rather well with regards to file-sharing and authentication.
However, the one thing that I noticed that I haven't been able to fix quickly with SWAT is the prevention of browsing the Linux file-system with users such as 'nobody' or 'bin'.
For example...

Netopia SDSL modem w/ IAX2 calls...
Has anybody experienced problems with a DSL modem stopping all other traffic
when an IAX channel opens up? I've really traced this thing out as best I can
- it isn't a lack of bandwidth on the DSL connection (I've had three
concurrent Ulaw calls coming in at once with no problems), nor a problem
within the network (other intranetwork traffic isn't affected by the call) -

Request for obfuscating the handshake
Dear OpenSSH team,
First of all thanks a lot for your good work on developing such a usable
peace of software. Nice job.
As you may know, we have some issues using OpenSSH in Iran. Recently the
government did some packet filtering on some protocols, including SSH. We
don't know what exactly they've done but it appears to be some routing rule
that prevents SSH protocol to initiate a
