off-by-one errors in getnameinfo()
Description:
getnameinfo() (confirmed for CVS version 1.14.2.1) does this sort of
buffer size checks (these is just two of many cases):
if (strlen(sp->s_name) > servlen)
return ENI_MEMORY;
strcpy(serv, sp->s_name);
...
if (strlen(hp->h_name) > hostlen) {

ownership & ssh
Here's another easy rsync question (I am trying to make sense of
some stuff): Let's say I have this burp file, which I set the follow
uid/gid:
raub@kushana-13>ls -l burp
-rw-r--r-- 1 nobody4 noaccess 44800 Feb 18 13:07 burp
raub@kushana-14>
When I move it to katri, since it does not have those uid/gid defined, it
just spits them out as the appropriate numbers (that were

* Pull in some more headers needed by configure
* Add proper ld-flags for ELF platforms
* Some code cleanup
* Install example files always to a different dir, and use out
build system to DTRT WRT getting them to /etc.

Patches for failing build & bus error on SPARC/Linux
All -
For those installs on crusty old hardware and OS releases, here are
patches to fix two OpenSSH problems on sparc redhat 4.2 systems.
1. `Old PAM' #defines different - build fails with undefined symbols when
PAM used.
2. Running ssh on sparc hardware results in bus error on some connection
negotiations. Unaligned data on call to inet_ntoa() results in bus
error.

Installing Ices on OSX 10.4.2
Hello,
I have been unable to install Ices2 on the latest version of Tiger. I
have tried two methods: one using DarwinPorts to install, and the other
grabbing the source and building it myself. Both seem to exit
compilation with the same or similar errors that I don't understand. I
am not a C hacker, so I won't be able to solve this myself. All the
supporting libs installed just fine

Almost there...
Ok, I managed to compile the Ogg and Vorbis libs. Then, after modifying
the file audio_out.c as follows:
original: #include <dlfcn.h>
modified: #include <win32/include/dlfcn.h>
I was able to (finally!) compile libao.
Then I tried to compile the module vorbis-tools, but uninvited problems
came to my party.

Make Fails on Cobalt Qube 2
All;
I am using the cobalt Qube 2 which uses a Cobalt OS with is supposedly a RedHat Linux 4.2 variant. I can not compile the new rsync version 2.5.7 as I always fail my make with the following error:
clientname.c: In function `client_addr':
clientname.c:72: warning: implicit declaration of function `getnameinfo'
clientname.c:73: `NI_NUMERICHOST' undeclared (first use this function)

patch to support hurd-i386
Hi,
here's a patch so that ssh also supports hurd-i386. Thanks for
incorporating. The patch comes from Robert Bihlmeyer <robbe at orcus.priv.at>.

More NetBSD patches
Here's a unified diff, proposed by Christos Zoulas (with a little
reworking to get the configure.in part a bit cleaner). The main target of
the patches are NetBSD compatability, although there are some changes
making
if (pointer X)
into
if (X != NULL)
as well. Christos also proposed a change to Makefile.in, but I'll send
that as a seperate mail.
Thanks,
David

getnameinfo() call and fake-rfc2553.c
Hello All,
Im using OpenSSH 4.2p1. The getnameinfo() call in my system libc is broken
and as a result SSH fails saying getnameinfo failed:host nor service
provided.
Im thinking of using getnameinfo() call available from openbsd-compat
directory to get rid of this problem. As this is a production system, we
can't make changes
without convincing my syadmin and managers.
I understand that

Name lookup failures and CIDR regression under cygwin ( patch attached )
Just updated to 3.0.4 under cygwin and I'm now getting lookup
failures in the log.

Looking at the code it seems the call will never succeed?

Dovecot 2.3.9 fails on FreeBSD
Hi
I've just tried to build the latest Dovecot 2.3.9 on FreeBSD 11.3.
Without success...It fails on the following commit which was introduced
in 2.3.9:
https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/c85f1bc3ce612c736c9d2c468cc08306db1b5851
Following output is the build log: https://pastebin.com/3nvSeDn8
So I guess it has to do with some changes FreeBSD made:
