Binding to Tun0 device
Hello all, We have a few aliased Ethernet addresses on our server and if I do not use the Bind statement in the "Global" section then the NMBD seems to try to bind to all of the addresses. We are actually using OpenVPN which make the connections just fine on a 172.16.x.x subnet to "tun0" device. The problem is that Samba does not seem to find the tun0 device and reports

sshd won't bind to tun0
Hi all, I have a strange situation. I have a machine connected to an AT&T VPN. Sometimes the VPN gets disconnected, so I create a cronjob to restart the VPN client when it happens: Problem is: sshd seem doesn't want to bind to tun0. I restart ssh, network, no good. Anyone has any clue? So strange. Thank you.

issue with tinc and libvirt / Network is already in use by interface tun0
Hello Dieter, could it be that your tinc node adds the route 192.168.1.0/24 and that libvirt later fails when it tries to configure the local bridge and add the same route? You could verify this by adding some output (writing a log file?) to the subnet-up script. If this should be the case then you need to find out, why tinc calls the subnet-up script for its own local subnets. Maybe there are

Hub/Spoke OpenVPN can't communicate from Client A to Client B - FORWARD:REJECT:IN=tun0 OUT=tun0
Hi, I am running OpenVPN where i have one central hub VPN server, and multiple spoke VPN clients. I can ping from each client to the server and each client to computers on the subnet which the server resides (192.168.2.0/24) so it works ok there. I cannot however, ping from one client to another client. I guess the packet path would go: clienta -> vpn -> shorewall/router -> vpn ->

distances from points to line
Dear all, I have discovered that there are many things that I used to do in my GIS which are easily done directly in R, for example calculating interpoint distances using geoR and pick out points inside a polygon using splancs. I now wonder, is there a function to create a line object like a watercourse and then calculate the distances between many points in space and this line? I couldn't

a strange behavior on a small memory system with tun0
Hello I am using openssh as vpn on a router with freewrt.org and rsync to sync my local data to a remote server. Everything works fine for me so far. The only problem is that the channel-1 (tun0) goes down on the router after 50-200MB transfered via tun0 or after 5-20 hours only with a ping to the server . Channel-0 is still working. Tcpdump shows that a ping from the router to the server via
