TreeCtrl item_data
The attached fixes set_item_data, get_item_data and some other methods for the TreeCtrl so they work nicely with Ruby objects and GC. In C++ Wx TreeCtrl item_data works differently from client_data in classes derived from ControlWithItems (eg Choice, ListCtrl). A one-to-one mapping of the way TreeCtrl works would mean that you would have to derive a class from TreeItemData, and instantiate

revised get_client_data patch
Here''s a revised patch for fixing get_client_data. It tackles the serious problem with the previous patch (segfault on exit) and makes the key bit of code available for sharing with other ControlWithItems classes. So it''s a candidate for applying. If it works I''ll add to other relevant places, like ListCtrl and ComboBox. The tricky part was detecting whether a

New wxRuby code is in CVS
I just checked in some good fixes. You can see the (full) Changelog here: http://qualitycode.com/repos/wxruby/ChangeLog Notable items: - Added shanko''s grid sample (thanks!) - Added support for ComboBox#get_value - Fixed *all* the known crashing bugs. The way I "fixed" the problems with get_client_data was to remove the set_client_data and get_client_data implementations. I

Re: TextCtrl background? (was TreeCtrl background?)
You had me looking in TreeCtrl at first with the previous subject line :) I too got an error and do not see an obvious reason, Kevin or Roy may have a better idea as they are better with SWIG than I am. You may want to put some printf''s in the generated TextCtrl.cpp file within the SetDefaultStyle method and find where it is crashing. The error in Mac OS X is: test.rb:15:in

get_client_data
As a first stab at understanding swig''s mem mgmt features, I tried to fix get_client_data, using Wx::Choice as a testbed. The attached patch resolves the immediate crasher with this function (which was b/c the typemap for void* isn''t right for this method). It also uses the %markfunc feature to prevent objects that are set as client data from being GC''d. The

Layout Issue ...
The following program represents the basic layout of my application. The problem I have is that the panel, and thus, the grid does not resize when the window width is expanded. Also, I would like the entire grid to be displayed without the horizontal scroll bar. How can I force this behavior? Please tell me if I am going about this incorrectly. I am just getting familar with wxRuby and any

couple of questions
Hi folks A couple of questions: 1) I seem to get funny artifacts in the display of TreeCtrl, ComboBox and ListBox when the MDI child frame containing it is first painted (see attached - it should be two-root treeview, unopened). I''m not sure if it''s related to being in a MDI, but the controls sample looks OK. The artifacts are cleared up when it''s repainted or

Resizing a ListCtrl
Hi Guys, I''m having serious troubles resizing a dialog with a ListCtrl. The ctrl will not resize horizontally no matter what I''m doing. I''ve attached a sample code below. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as I really like wxRuby :) I''ve also tried to copy from the example from listtest.rbw, but that also doesn''t seem to work. Another thing

SWIG Bug
In trying to add wxTextCtrl to wxruby-swig, I''ve been running into a problem with the argument conversion that appears to be a SWIG director bug. It is tied to multiple inheritance, and is related to SWIG specifically making director''s ''initialize'' take a first argument, but because ''initialize'' is static there isn''t a self value

instabilities in wxRuby 1.9.6
I have recently started to use wxRuby, because I have used the wxWidgets library from C++ for a few years and found it an excellent toolkit. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and version 1.9.6 of wxRuby. A problem though is a number of instabilities. This may be due to my own ignorance, but I have usually found C++/wxWidgets, once the program compiles it will at least stay working, if at times
