tinc connections fallout
Hi,
Our VPN runs okay for some time, and every now and then one of the links (we
have three hosts connected redundantly) just falls out with no reason. In the
syslog I get several (strange?) messages:
Feb 14 09:56:02 ophar tinc.pirnet[2816]: 212.187.121.188 port 655: Connection
timed out
Feb 14 09:56:02 ophar tinc.pirnet[2816]: Could not set up a meta

tinc doesn't listen/connect
Hi,
I installed tinc as described in the documentation and started the tincd. It
runs, all config files seem ok, but when I do a netstat -an, it isn't listening
nor connected (to another tincd on another host). Is there a configfile error
or something else?
Getting the right info wasn't easy either. The info on the homepage seems old,
since the manpages say other configuration issue.

how to test
Hi,
I got a small VPN (2 hosts so far) running tinc. The connection is established,
according to netstat, so I guess the configfiles are ok. When starting the
deamon, nothing appears in syslog, not even when running with -dddd. So the VPN
should work, but it doesn't. Pinging doesn't work, let alone TCP services as
ftp or http.
Are there ways to test/diagnose the VPN?
TIA

Routed network can't reach outside network
Greetings folks.
I've setup libvirtd on my manjaro linux laptop.
Got a couple of VM's running (Win10 and Debian10) through NAT without any
issues.
This is what the current network diagram looks like and it works fine:

[URGENT] tinc has a security hole of about 50 million km^2
Sending your passphrase encrypted is all fine, but tinc sends the key
with which it was encrypted about a second later...
Anyone being able to intercept these two requests is authorized on the
VPN.
We need asymmetric authentication _now_.

can't get tinc to compile..
Hi Tinc Mailing Group,
I've been trying for some days now, to get tinc up and running.
Could someone please suggest what I could do to get it working.
I've installed Redhat 6.2 onto a pc, and then installed the
latest 2.2 kernel: 2.2.18 from source code (The usual
make menuconfig ; make dep ; make bzImage , etc). I've followed
the tinc instructions for adding the

Configuration Trouble
I have succeeded in getting two tinc1.0pre3 hosts to connect, but I can't
ping one from the other. I can ping the local tap interfaces. tcpdump shows
that icmp echo requests are received by the other host, but no replies are
sent. The two hosts are North and South. It is the same pinging North to
South and South to North. The hosts are configured as follows:

Problems starting up tincd with startupscript 1.0pre2-1.i386.rpm
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a vpn using tinc, so I installed tinc with the rpm version on my firewall as a listener. Setting up the tap device is no problem. The file /etc/tinc/tinc.conf looks like:
TapDevice = /dev/tap0
MyVirtualIP = 192.168.2.1/24
Vpnmask = 255.255.255.0
When I start the script /etc/rc.d/init.d/tinc start it says something about missing /etc/tinc/nets.boot

Was running 1.0pre2 just fine, but had to move machines, so I figgured
I'd give 1.0pre3 a try.
After getting everything to build and figguring out the new config

Start the server process (remote machine).
Start the client process (local machine).
In remote machine, the following shows up in syslog: tinc[2659]: Got

Samba mount hangs after Firefox accessed file://
Hi,
I have a very strange problem with samba: I mount a 'home' directory on
my laptop from the server (both Linux; laptop runs Slackware 10.1,
samba 3.0.14; server runs RHEL3, samba 3.0.7-1.3E). And during normal
operation the share runs fine, until I access a file from the address
field in Firefox (1.0.6) with the file:// protocol. This causes the
share to hang. When trying to
