patch for tinc-0.3
Hi tinc list members, There were some problems with Ivo's email adresses (both zarq@iname.com and zarq@spark.icicle.dhs.org) so I resent the stuff to the mailling list. ============================================= Hi Ivo, Hier is een oplossing voor een bugje in flush_queue(), en ook wat andere troepjes zoals een tincd scheduler. Dit werkt wat beter, omdat de

Mac clients trouble with NFD accented characters on Samba share
File names on a Samba share with accented characters using the NFD form of UTF8 cannot be seen or used by Mac clients. While tying to find a solution, I came across this old thread : https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-December/187545.html ("[Samba] Mount unix samba 4 share to osx client without mangled file names") A reply in that thread suggested: > >/Do I have

Lots of Flushing x bytes to y would block messages
The server has a 1G symmetrical fibre line. It has been speedtested to various local servers to be close to 800-900M. When there is only a single client, there isn't much problem and as soon as the connection is made, the ping time through to tunnel is a respectable 30ms. As soon as a few more clients are connected, ping time degrades to hundreds and sometimes seconds and with dropped packets.

This approach is more complex than I'd like, but it works even on Solaris, which has neither credential passing nor permissions on the socket itself. --- src/control.c | 82 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++----------- src/control_common.h | 1 + src/tincctl.c | 67 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++-------- src/tincd.c | 2 +- 4 files changed, 120

Netbios name service forwarding.
I wrote this little program to deal with the situation where there are a number of workgroups on a number of subnets with no WINS server [actually I couldn't get this configuration to run with a WINS server - but that's another story] You run this program on machines bridging your subnets and it listens for netbios nameserver packets and forwards them. [Broadcast packets are sent on to

Dev: new option to mark all tincd socket of a tincd process
I know i'm new to the list but i'd like to propose something for tincd daemon. I'd like to mark all sockets established by a tincd process with a mark passed as an argument in the command line. What could be the purpose of this new option? The goal of this option is to be able to have several tincd process running at the same time using the same port but using different ip. In

error: failed reading from tcp: Connection reset by peer
All, I see the following message fairly frequently in our nsd.log files: error: failed reading from tcp: Connection reset by peer A quick grep through the source code reveals that this log message comes from server.c, and can come pretty much at any time during a TCP query. Since: - This condition occurs during normal operation, and - There is nothing a server operator can do about it. I

[cifs-utils PATCH] cifs.upcall: switch group IDs when handling an upcall
Currently, we leave the group ID alone, but now that we're looking at KRB5CCNAME, we need to be a little more careful with credentials. After we get the uid, do a getpwuid and grab the default gid for the user. Then use setgid to set it before calling setuid. Converting OS X UTF-8 NFD to UTF-8 NFC
To make rsync work better when rsyncing between OS X (whose filenames are encoded in UTF-8 NFD form) and just about every other OS (whose filenames are encoded in UTF-8 NFC form), I wrote a little patch for rsync that converts the filenames to NFC before sending them to the other side. It uses libidn for that, and currently has no option to enable/disable this behaviour, but since on OS X all

Hello all, Tested on linux 2.6.18 (Centos5) and FreeBSD 7.0. tftpd-hpa suggestions
Hello, Peter and others! there are some issues regarding the tftp-hpa server: 1. Running as Windows service seems to require that the application does not detach (otherwise "net start" says smth. like "could not start, the service didn't report any errors"). The attached patch adds the option "-n", which can be used to have tftpd run in foreground.

log-server.c patch: adding tag to every log output.
The attached modification to log-server.c add a "tag" to all the syslog output. The tag is a composite of the internal verbose level names used in sshd and the external syslogd names. The form of the tag is as follows. ssh_internal_name(syslog_priority) This might be instructive for a learning sysadmin trying to setup syslog for sshd logging. (I have posted earlier about

PowerWare USB debug messages
Earlier this year, I added a patch to my local NUT tree to additionally print the value of usb_strerror() if usb_clear_halt() failed. (Ignore the commented-out goto.) Since these messages are at the LOG_ERR level, should we add usb_strerror() to all of the calls in nut_usb.c? diff --git a/drivers/nut_usb.c b/drivers/nut_usb.c index 494a1fa..4ca2691 100644 --- a/drivers/nut_usb.c +++

[PATCH] tftpd.c: write a pid file in standalone mode
The default path is /var/run/tftpd-hpa.pid, which can be overridden by the newly introduced -P option. On normal termination (SIGTERM or SIGINT) the pid file is automatically removed. Moved setting the umask later, right before entering the select loop, so that it does not affect the permissions of the pid file. Signed-off-by: Ferenc Wagner <wferi at niif.hu> --- tftpd/tftpd.c | 38
