Debian and Ubuntu packages of 1.0.17
I uploaded packages of 1.0.17 to Debian unstable more than a month ago, and
also updated the xapian-backports PPA on launchpad:

But more recently and more notably, I've now uploaded backported packages for
Debian 5.0 (the current stable release, codename lenny) and Debian 4.0 (the

Yum packages error.
Dear group,
Last night I was playing around with my home desktop trying to get the sound to work and somehow I broke some dependencies, now yum update would not run. Can someone help me troubleshoot this. This is the output I am getting from yum update. Thank you in advance.

Out of memory
Sorry for previous post with incorrect referrals/thread.
For large mailboxes (64k + messages) using maildir I got random "out
of memory" errors.

question between centos 4.6 i586 and denian edge
I have a strange situation.
I am using centos 4.6 i586 with alsa 1.0.17 and asterisk 1.4.21.1 (only
the console/dsp or soudn port).
running centos 4.6 asterisk will seg fault after awhile.
running debian edge with the same installed packages it does not seg fault.
running x86_64 centos 4.6 and 5.2 asterisk does not seg fault.
What might be going on with centos i586 that it is causing asterisk to

I am going into:
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-92.1.10.el5-x86_64
and doing a "make mrproper"
attempting to rebuild the Modules.symvers file. As I added ALSA 1.0.17
to the current kernel.

Excessive memory use when using FLAG_PARTIAL?

Sorry if this is an easy one, but I've Googled and can't find anyone else
who's mentioned this same problem.
I'm using Xapian (tried both versions 1.0.17 and 1.2.4) with the PHP
bindings on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) and Apache 2.2.14. I'm using it for an

switch mode, how to give a public IP behing a NAT

I use tinc since 2 years between my MPLS sites in router mode, works
like a charm.
Today i am trying to make an ethernet bridge beetween 2 sites for video
conference needs, the raison is that 1 side is behind nat, and i dont
have access on the gate, other side is on public range. Because off H323
that doesn't handle unconfigured NAT, i would like to give a public IP

Only stereo instead true 5.1 sound in World of Warcraft
Hi,
Im trying to get World of Warcraft to sound the same way as in win xp - i mean in real 5.1 - no duplicating channels in alsa etc...
Problem is that WoW in Wine 1.1.2 detects only stereo mode as SESound.log file in wow logs says:

Sound Issues - Pulseaudio is not installed
I'm using wine-1.1.3 and alsa-lib-1.0.17.r1 on Gentoo.
Music from most games plays like a stuck record and eventually all sound dissapears. Pulseaudio nowhere to be seen.
When I say most games, this hasn't happened with older games like Diablo II and Caesar III. Having said that, Diablo II did loose all sound and one point... It is a more common problem with more modern games though!

re-install package
I tried to install alsa 1.0.19 on centos 5.3 64 - did not work - compile
errors.
I need to re-install alsa-lib and alsa-util .
I dont want to do rpm -e first on those packages as dependcy is crazy.
I know they were installed (rpm -qa | grep alsa tells me so) I just want
to re-install ?
How do I do that?

NFS4 over tinc hangs
Hello,
I am experiencing system hangs when running NFSv4 over a tinc VPN. I
don't know if the problem is with NFS or tinc and would appreciate any
suggestions on how to narrow down the culprit. Unfortunately I cannot
simply run NFS directly over TCP -- the participating systems are
connected only over an open network.
