Samba and netbeui
Hello all, There is still a use for netbeui (non-routed protocol) in the network. If you are using a VPN client that does not allow split tunneling, you can still access printers on another local system with netbeui. I would like to remove the windows system and have my print shares on my Linux system with Samba. Is all consideration of netbeui within the Linux/Samba environment gone?

Tinc crashes when node with identical configuration is present twice
Hello list, we have been running tinc to connect multiple nodes without problems for quite some time now. Thanks for this great piece of software! Our configuration is as follows: Two "supernodes" A and B running the tinc daemon are publicly reachable from the internet. Node A is running Linux and has a static public IP address. Node B is running Windows with port forwarding

I attached the snapshot of the output of commands but the size of the email got bigger than 40kb so i had to place the output as text. If I do not run "make remove-cached-databases" and run "./runtest ./apitest

Don't deprecate TCPOnly please!
Hey, Tinc developers! I'm not sure if anyone else has brought this up, but we've got a rather good reason for using TCP, even though UDP will actually form a working connection. Anyone on Comcast's "small business" service is forced to use an SMC cable modem/router. Its NAT implementation is capable of letting tinc's UDP tunnels work fine, but they limit a single UDP

Join QNAP to a Samba AD
I've upgraded in the classic way described in the wiki https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Migrating_a_Samba_NT4_domain_to_a_Samba_AD_do main_(classic_upgrade) I don't have any unix users between 99 and 65534 so i think can set the range to start from 500. However, this still won't work :( On Dec 6 2016, at 10:01 am, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at

Error on installation of Ruby On Rails on QNAP TS809U-RP [Linux]
I am not sure where I should even begin troubleshooting this. I know a little bit about Linux and am comfortable editing files and running commands however definitely not a Linux guru. I have ipkg already installed on the QNAP. I know absolutely nothing about ruby on rails. Thanks for any help. For those that are not familiar with a QNAP, ipkg is the same as apt-get or yum in some Linux

I've followed the excellent instructions here http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=182 <http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=182&t=35970&start=0> &t=35970&start=0 but I'm not there yet. When I manually start upsdrvctl without the UPS plugged in I get [~] # /usr/bin/upsdrvctl start Network UPS

[PATCH] Build against linux-support-2.6.32-2
To build in current unstable (and, I suspect, squeeze) xen-3 seems to need the following patch. (I'm not really sure what I'm doing and just cribbed from r14469 in the debian-kernel tree which is where the pertinent change to the linux-support package came from. It seems to work....) The errors from only editing rules.defs are attached. Index: debian/bin/gencontrol.py

Bug#546908: logcheck: Since upgrade to latest, some patterns are no longer filtered
Package: logcheck Version: 1.3.3 Severity: normal After upgrading to the latest logcheck, I've noticed that some local rules I have written no longer filter out the logs properly. I've been able to correlate the non-matching to the presence of the '/' (slash) character or '[' (left bracket) in the string that the ".*" pattern ought to match. For instance, I
