tinc starts too early on boot
I have a bunch of Debian stretch machines with systemd where I find that tinc starts too early during boot, and fails to work. Typically it is running, but printing out Apr 14 00:53:41 db7 tinc[3077]: Can't write to Linux tun/tap device (tun mode) /dev/net/tun: Input/output error regularly. Unfortunately because it is running systemd does not restart it, even though it's not actually

fixing cannot route packet error
I am seeing a problem that looks the same as that described in message: http://mail.nl.linux.org/tinc/2001-06/msg00000.html titled : Error: cannot route packet - please help The thread says it is fixed in the CVS version. I did a "cvs checkout -r CABAL tinc" and installed that version. Now tinc always fails trying to establish the meta-data connection. I assume I compiled something

tinc optimal packet route selection
Dear Guys and Girls, I have two group of tinc nodes, say A and B. The network quality between A and B is unstable. I am wondering what algorithm tinc is using for delivering and relaying packets. How does one tinc node decide which the "next hop" is when its destination can not be reached directly or too slow to reach directly? The real situation is like this, nodes in group A and B

You should not need to have two tinc daemons just because you have a WAN and a LAN interface. By default (ie, if you don't specify BindToAddress and/or BindToInterface), tinc listens on all interfaces,

Error: cannot route packet - please help
Hi, I?m fighting with a silly problem: my syslog tells me tinc cannot route a packet. I can use a telnet or the good ol ping, it is the same effect. When I?m pinging from the laptop (172.16.11.2) the network address (172.16.11.0) or any address numerically lower than the laptops address, the packet gets routed, otherwise not. And when I ping the network address, I get the reply twice, as to be

Packet loss with LocalDiscovery
Hi, I believe I have found a bug with regard to the LocalDiscovery feature. This is on tinc-1.1pre7 between two Windows nodes. Steps to reproduce: - Get two nodes talking using LocalDiscovery (e.g. put them on the same LAN behind a NAT with no metaconnection to each other) - Make one ping the other. Expected result: - The two nodes should ping each other without any packet loss, hopefully at

ipv6 default route from somewhere
I have been gradually moving more tinc servers over to ipv6 addresses on the tinc 1.1 branch. Tinc is inserting a default route for ipv6 for some reason... default via 2600:3c01:e030:f2::1 dev tinc6 proto static metric 950 pref medium In my case the default route supplied by ra is still the correct thing, but I don't see where in the code tinc is inserting this route from.... which, as

disappointed with x-axes in hist and density plots
I've got a few issues with the x-axes in the histogram and density plots. First, often the default x-axis doesn't even extend to the length of my data. R often draws histogram bars (or density lines) farther than the drawn x-axis extends. For example, I might have a histogram bar at -15,000. But I wouldn't know that, because the most negative number on the x-axis is -10,000. The

How to improve the throughput
Dear I am very new to tinc and would like to ask any advice regarding tinc's throughput. I have been using OpenVPN for several years and found tinc as a simpler/scaler VPN using TUN/TAP device. I have tried to use tinc on WindowsXP and measured throughput in contrast to OpenVPN. My test revealed that tinc is faster in PING response (almost half of OpenVPN). However, when I tested with

displaying a table in full vs. typing variable name
I have a data frame called totaldata that is 10,000 rows by about 9 columns. The data frame contains many zero entries which are important. If I type >totaldata it only prints out the first two columns. I expect (and want) it to print out all 9 columns. (I am actually "sinking" this to a text file, so imagine my surprise when the text file has only a few columns). I know

Tinc on 64-bit Vista
Guus, Just thoguht I'd let you know -- Tinc works fine under 64-bit Vista! Obtaining a 64-bit signed TAP/TUN driver was a bit of an ordeal. It appears that the OpenVPN guys have forked out the money to get the TAP-win64 driver signed for kernel modules. I installed OpenVPN, then installed Tinc -- no problems whatsoever. The OpenVPN installer does a check to see if it's running on
