Openvpn and samba: play nice together?
Friends-- I'm stumped! Cannot get mount.cifs to work over a tun connection. How would you trouble-shoot this? 1. It cannot be openvpn causing the problem: I can ping across the connection both directions on all machines. 2. It cannot be samba causing the problem: I can mount.cifs the smb shares on the lan (using the identical credentials file) without any issue. 3. Have iptables

WG: Cross subnet browsing + OpenVPN
What about your openvpn config? The tun net must have an entry in your hosts allow. If you work with briding the remote network has to be the same subnet as the local!? Bridging is the best way to have a remote net integrated. I have one logging in form Berlin on my Samba-Domain. OpenVPN and multiple ISPs
I have a server, server A, with three NICs: two to the Internet via separate ADSL modems, and one to the LAN. The two ''net'' interfaces are configured as described at http://www.shorewall.net/MultiISP.html. This has been working for a number of months. I am now testing an OpenVPN link between server A and another (currently single-ISP) server (server B). I can establish the VPN

Packet compression benchmark
Hello, Darik Horn sent a pull request adding support for LZ4. LZ4 is supposed to be a very fast compression algorithm, especially when it comes to decompression. I did a quick benchmark with zlib, LZO and LZ4. Now, there are many benchmarks you can find online, but most of them deal with compressing large files. Tinc on the other hand has to compress small packets individually. So I did the

question from openvpn user, how to "redirect-gateway" in tincd
Hello, today I was trying to do something easy I did with openvpn before. I have a server, and a few clients will connect to the server and route their internet traffic into the tunnel. The server then makes NAT. To configure clients in OpenVPN there was this directive called: --redirect-gateway that basically (copy and paste from OpenVPN man): 1) Create a static route for the --remote address

OpenVPN + SIP configuration?
Hello I read a whole book on OpenVPN, but still can't figure how to configure the server + client so that the the client connects and sends SIP/RTP data through the tunnel. To get started, I'd rather use a shared key instead of X509 (certificates + keys). The server is running on a uClinux appliance, with /dev/net/tun, and OpenVPN is 2.0.9. The clients will be Windows hosts connecting

Does tinc have something akin to openvpn's --tls-auth ? Or do I not need that at all ?
Hello, I wanted to ask if tinc had something akin to openvpn's --tls-auth option, for all the reason's listed here: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/Hardening I have read http://www.tinc-vpn.org/documentation-1.1/tinc.pdf, but I have not seen anything similar. Or do I not need that feature at all because tinc handles cryptology different than openvpn ( tinc's uses RSA keys
