tinc 1.0pre4 released
Hello everybody, I have just released tinc 1.0pre4. Changes: - New authentication protocol (better security, and faster too). - TCPonly and IndirectData are back (but not fully tested). - Documentation revised, it's really up to date with the released package now. - tincd -K now stores public/private keys in PEM format, but keys of 1.0pre3 can still be used. - Faster and more secure

Route certain trafic via a tinc node that is not directly connected.
Hello again :) Thank you all for your reply's. Below are the config files of the 3 hosts. I use  tinc in router mode. I do not have a kernel mode config lines anywhere so tinc must be using the default settings here. I added the ipaddressx to subnets on hostc and this works. Traffic to that ip is now routed via hostc. But since this ipaddressx address changes often I need to resolve it

Problems with UDP frame size??
Well this has had me stumped for days now. For months I've been using tinc in TCPOnly because I always received the unknown host error when using UDP. On Monday, i set the flag IndirectData = yes in my host files, and removed the TCPOnly line. Initially, everything worked great. My throughput increased from 600KB/sec to 2MB/sec between the sites. However, I also did some testing with

Things that need to be fixed
Hi, There are several issues with tinc that need to be fixed: - IndirectData: currect protocol "masquerades" hosts which have IndirectData set. This is bad, because you can't do loop detection anymore, and it requires a lot of dirty code to do the masquerading properly. - Loop detection: request handlers must be revised to break the right connections upon detecting a loop. -

Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello, response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time

Problems when outgoing source port is altered by router
hi folks well, tinc is a really nice tool and we implemented it on 3 linux servers and 2 mobile clients (XP notebooks) so far. one of the 3 tinc servers is making troubles, when a connection is initiated from this server over a zyxel 642 adsl router out to the other 2 servers in the internet. the logfiles of the other 2 servers shows: > tinc[1398]: Received UDP packet from unknown

Numerous disconections and MaxTimeout appears to be ignored
Hi I've compiled Tinc 1.0.2 from source but I'm having trouble. Not only am I having disconnections all the time (could be a network issue however) but even worse, Tinc is ignoring my MaxTimeout = 60 and is waiting longer and longer and longer (logfile shows it at 120 seconds). Is this a bug or have i misconfigured anything? best regards Marco Amrein Dec 5 11:25:12 frank

keyword TCPOnly in release 1.0pre5
Hi, I've successfully running tinc1.0pre4 between two locations on SuSE Linux 7.1 in a special masquerading Firewall environment, so that I'm using the TCPonly keyword in the host files to get a connection. Otherwise I would get the message 'Received UDP packet on port 655 from unknown source <ipaddress in hex:port>'. After upgrading to 1.0pre5 I'm getting this message

Routing between two tunnels
Hi! Me and two friends are trying to get a VPN working, but we cant get routing between two tunnels. This is how it looks, all servers (192.168.*.1) are running IP Masquerade to enable the other computers behind them to access the internet. Both elayne and glenn are connecting to melc, and the tunnel between melc and glenn are running TCPOnly because that glenn doesnt have a public IP (it's

I'm wanting to create several public mailboxes for shared messages. I've followed the wiki and have the public folder created. I've got a folder /home/vmail/public/public1 public1 being the maildir of the public mailbox. I can

samba 3.0.3 + windows backup software = strange issue
Hello! Sorry if I am wrong with the target list but here's a picture of an issue that we have with Samba 3.0.3 and standard Windows Backup software. Actors: 1) Standard Windows Backup software that is bundled with the OS; 2) Windows 2000 SP4 Russian and Windows XP SP2 English; 3) Samba 3.0.3 running at Linux box in the Local Mode (i.e. all users are authenticated locally)
