vtun -- no IPv6 support?
Reading many comments about vtun available through google searchs seems to imply it supports IPv6. When I install it (v 3.0.2-1) and bind it to an interface that does NOT have IPv4 defined (only v6), start the service, and do a 'netstat -nat|grep 5000', I see it bound to 0.0.0.0:5000, not to the IPv6 0::/128 equiv address. What gives? IPv6 support or not? Meanwhile I found the kame

Glusterfs-2 locks/hangs on EC2/vtun setup
Hi all, I'm trying to get a glusterfs cluster working inside Amazon's EC2. I'm using the official ubuntu 8.10 images. I've compiled glusterfs-2, but I'm using the in-kernel fuse module as the instances run 2.6.27-3, and the fuse module from glusterfs won't compile against something that recent. For my test setup I'm trying to get AFR working over two servers, with

Massive confusion
I'm probably thinking way too hard on this... but I've already got a headache. I've setting up a VPN for a client between two sites. Someone had recommended vtun, so I gave it a try. I was VERY put off by the lack of decent documentation. I _think_ I got a VPN set up between the two sites, but it wasn't working right and I gave up because the documentation sucked. So, then I

[Bridge] <kernel BUG> generated on bridge up/down & other issues
Hi, I've been encountering some problems with bridging under linux 2.6.12-9 (ubuntu Breezy Badger). Apologies for the newbie-ish email: problem is likely a config issues, but docs appear to be sparse and I can't find much reference to the problem/solution on the 'net; trial and error really isn't working... Am attempting to bridge an offsite network to the central

No DESTDIR in po makefiles
Hi, The Makefiles in the tinc/po dir don't respect the DESTDIR environment variable. This prohibits rpm packages from installing the l10n files. The debian package tools don't have that problem as they chroot. When building rpms, the l10n files get installed into the real root - not very nice. I don't know how to edit the Makefile.in.in files, I can find out but it'd be nicer if

Balanced trees in tinc
Hi everybody, I'm looking into replacing the linked lists in tinc with balanced trees. Using balanced trees will greatly improve performance for medium to large VPNs. As I see it, there are several options: 1) Use tsearch()/twalk()/etc functions from glibc. + It is in a very standard library - It relies solely on callback functions, which sometimes results in ugly, awkward code (I

Linux choices ?
First of all, My apologies for this maybe slight OT post, but I have so much confidence and read so much good replies on this list, that I am still asking my question. I''m looking for a linux distribution to use on our school''s homemade routers. The routers are small miniITX based systems with 2 network interfaces. I added a 4 port D-Link network card in some cases, when I

tap1 problem
Hi Tinc Mailing-Group, Having set up the kernel correctly, and got tinc running successfully, I am now trying to get two VPNs running at once. Hence I need to have two ethertap devices ( /dev/tap0 and /dev/tap1 ). The first tap0 device was created thus: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap0 c 36 16 chown 0.0 /dev/tap0 The second tap1 device was created too: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap1 c 36 17 chown 0.0 /dev/tap1

Tinc config problem
I fairly new to Linux, and I'm trying to set up Tinc on my Linux box. However I got stuck at the following point in the documentation: ".... The actual setup of the ethertap device is quite simple, just repeat after me: ifconfig tap_n_ hw ether fe:fd:00:00:00:00 ... ". Now, this is obviously not what I have to type to the command prompt, although, I'm not ashamed to say,
