memory leak in 3.3.1 rebalance?
I started rebalancing my 25x2 distributed-replicate volume two days ago. Since then, the memory usage of the rebalance processes has been steadily climbing by 1-2 megabytes per minute. Following http://gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/High_Memory_Usage, I tried "echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". This had no effect on the processes' memory usage. Some of the

Help with systemd
Hi I am trying to get Greenstone3 http://www.greenstone.org/download to work with systemd. So far I have come up with the following which works but feels more like a hack than a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this better ? # cat /etc/tmpfiles.d/greenstone3.conf d /run/greenstone3 0755 gs3 gs3 - # cat /etc/systemd/system/greenstone3.service # Systemd unit file for

[Gluster-devel] volume rebalance still broken
Replying and adding gluster-users. large memory usage on rebalance
Hello all, I had gluster volume distributed over 7 machines with a single brick each. After adding two more bricks I started the rebalance command, but the memory usage of the glusterfs process handling this ate up all the available memory on the machine I started the rebalance on. I tried again on another peer with more memory and here it also ate up 60 GB and showed no sign of getting

Gluster rebalance failed.
Hi, I ran the gluster volume rebalance command after add more bricks to the exist volume. The existing data is about 3T. However, the rebalance failed after running for a day, while still in "fix layout" stage, and it continue to fail a few times after I manually start rebalance again..... Do you have any idea how to fix that? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

Rebalance may never finish, Gluster 3.2.6
Hi Guys, I have a rebalance that is going so slow it may never end. Particulars on system: 3 nodes 6 bricks, ~55TB about 10%full. The use of data is very active during the day and less so at night. [PATCH] btrfs: Require CAP_SYS_ADMIN for filesystem rebalance
Filesystem rebalancing (BTRFS_IOC_BALANCE) affects the entire filesystem and may run uninterruptibly for a long time. This does not seem to be something that an unprivileged user should be able to do. Rebalance failing on fix-layout
Hello, The past couple of weeks I had some issues with firmware on the OS hard drives in my gluster cluster. I have recently fixed the issue, and am bringing my bricks back into the volume. I am running gluster 3.7.6 and am running into the following issue: When I add the brick and rebalance, the operation fails after a couple minutes. The errors I find in the rebalance log is this: [2017-06-05

Gluster Summit BOF - Rebalance
Hi, We had a BOF on Rebalance at the Gluster Summit to get feedback from Gluster users. - Performance has improved over the last few releases and it works well for large files. - However, it is still not fast enough on volumes which contain a lot of directories and small files. The bottleneck appears to be the single-threaded filesystem crawl. - Scripts using the fix-layout and file migration

Recovering files "lost" during a rebalance on a Dispersed 3+1
Hello, We are running glusterfs 6.6 on Ubuntu. We have a Gluster storage system that is a few years old. There are 4 VMs running a Dispersed (NOT replicated) system - a 3 + 1 configuration. Generally performance is well tuned for our needs, but the problem arose last time we added bricks: we attempted a rebalance which is reported as failed. From the mounted POSIX view of the file system, we

Rebalance without changing layout
Hi Is it possible to rebalance data in gluster without changing layout? When I use rebalance with force, the layout changed. I dont want changing layout, just balancing data over layout. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Gluster Rebalance question
Hi all, I'm using glusterfs for a few years now, and generally very happy with it. Saved my data multiple times already! :-) However, I do have a few questions for which I hope someone is able to answer them. I have a distributed, replicated glusterfs setup. I am in the process of replacing 4TB bricks with 8TB bricks, which is working nicely. However, what I am seeing now is that the space
