Amazon SimpleDB and R
As far as I know there isn't anything available for this, but I
thought I'd check before working up something of my own.
Is there a way to query Amazon SimpleDB and import the data results
directly into R?
Cheers,
Tim.

Using Amazon S3 storage for Maildir ?
I wonder if anyone has tried using an IMAP server with Amazon S3 as a
backend. There would be many factors to consider (speed, etc).
However, moreso, I don't know that Maildir(++) would support multiple
folders that might be linked into the cloud. For example, higher-I/O
local incoming mail is on disk, some folders archived on S3. Could be
easily done by simply creating another

Subfolders problem
I have moved from dovecot 1.x to 2.x and I have big problem with
subfolders.
When I'm moving subfolder with other subfolders is moving only main
subfolder, without subfolders, example :
mail-storage-1 /var/vmail/home/adamskitest/mdbox/mailboxes # find | egrep
-e "janusz|jarek"
./jarek
./jarek/dbox-Mails
./jarek/dbox-Mails/dovecot.index.log
./jarek/jarek2
./jarek/jarek2/dbox-Mails

Crash test :)
I'm considering to move my mails from maildir/mbox to mdbox. One of my
doubts is: how can I restore my mails when something terrribly wrong
happens.
I understand that I should use doveadm import "backup_location"
"mailbox" all.
So I try to import with:
doveadm -v import "sdbox:~/Mail/dbox-temp/spamcop/reports/" "#Dbox/spamcop/reports" all
#Dbox

dsync convert dovecot 2.0 beta4
Hello,
I am trying to convert a dbox mailbox in maildir format
I changed the config to maildir instead of dbox and I am issuing this
/opt/dovecot/bin/dsync -u r convert dbox:/home/r/dbox
But I get many errors like those below and no mail is stored in the maildir.
dsync(r): Error: Corrupted mailbox log at offset 18446743970630342680:
/home/r/dbox/dovecot.mailbox.log

constant Log synchronization error's
Hi,
I am seeing constant "Log synchronization error"s in my logs. See later
for an example.
This is dovecot 2.2.4, pigeonhole 0.4.1, and postfix 2.10.1 (with
mailbox_command = /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver) on a Fedora 19 system.
I am using packages from Atrpms so there are some patches applied - ask
for details. The mailboxes have resently been moved from a i386 system.
I have

Questions regarding dbox migration
It has been my wish to move to dbox for a long time hoping to reduce the
number of writes which is really killing us.
Now I wonder what may be the best way of doing so. I'm considering some
sort of intermediate migration where the existing Maildir users are
changed to single-dbox and then later upgraded to 2.0 and changed to
multi-dbox when it becomes stable.
But is this a reasonable task

Questions about dbox (sdbox?), mdbox
Hello,
So ive spent the last 45 minutes or so searching the list for dbox
stuff, but Im not seeing anything real definitive.
My question is basically whether the dbox format is ready for
production environment, is sdbox or mdbox more stable/ready than the
other or does it matter? What are people's experience/review with
running this format (and if you reply can you tell me which one

Dovecot v1.2.rc5 dbox file permissions
Hi Timo,
I've just setup Dovecot v1.2.rc5 and switched the mailbox format of one
account to dbox. Therefor I've created an empty directory, called dbox,
with access mode 0700, like the user's home directory.
After the IMAP login with Thunderbird some dboxes was created. All
permissions were set fine (0700 / 0600), except the permissions for the
files:

dbox - how to awaken the monster
Hello people,
Since the invention of this storage called dbox, I have never quite gotten
round to understanding it, nor getting to use it. It seems so strange to me
and I must ask a few stupid questions about it.
I use the MTA to deliver mail to Maildir, either in ~/Maildir or
/some/path/%d/%n/Maildir. It has always beat me how dbox comes into play
under such circumstances. From the wiki, I see

Get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder
Hey to all,
is it possible to get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder when using sdbox?
Currently my folder structure looks like this (I hope the output from
tree would be formatted well):
/srv/mail/
??? example.com
??? ??? user
??????? ??? dovecot-acl-list
??????? ??? dovecot-attributes
??????? ??? dovecot.list.index.log
??????? ??? dovecot.mailbox.log
??????? ???

The 'dbox' Format
I'd like to give the dbox format a try, but I could not find any information on how to enable it. There's information on how to set mail_location for the Maildir and mbox formats in the wiki and also in the commented configuration file, but how to set it for dbox is strangely missing. I took a guess with 'mail_location = dbox:~/dbox', but that didn't work, so it's probably

Get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder
Hey Aki,
DIRNAME with empty value has no effect, just like with FULLDIRNAME.
"~/sdbox" instead of "~/" doesn't change that..
Greetings,
Hativ

Get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder
Hey again,
sorry, but I have to correct me: Even with dot it's not working
completely. The subscriptions file is not created and the dovecot-acl
file has the wrong path, too.
:-(
Greetings,
Hativ

mdbox: Cannot create subfolder called "dbox-Mails" (2.0beta5)
I am trying out "mdbox" under Dovecot 2.0beta5.
Looking in the "mailboxes" directory under the mdbox storage root
("~/dbox" in my case), I can see that the mail folders are mapped into
filesystem directories.
But Dovecot seems to put all the message list information
("dovecot.index.cache", "dovecot.index.log") for any given mail folder

Dbox Upgrade Problem With MAILBOXDIR
Hi.
Trying to upgrade from Dovecot 1.1.11 to 1.1.13 but having a problem
with imap process segfaulting. Backtrace is below. I presume it's
related to these MAILBOXDIR changes but the only documentation is the
single line in the news for changing to ":MAILBOXDIR=mailboxes" when
using dbox.
Current configuration is "mail_location = dbox:~/Mail" so what exactly

Converting old emails to compressed format
Hello,
I know this question has already been asked, but I would really like a
solution here as I tried all I could find on the wiki or mail archives
I am now running dovecot 2.2.12
Compression works fine for new mails, so zlib works
Mails are currently stored using dbox
So I tried for testing
dsync -D -v mirror -u user -m Archives dbox:~/temp
dsync -o "plugin/zlib_save=xz" -D -v
