Per-user "Seen" flags with shared namespace stored as maildir?
Hi all,
I was wondering if the above was possible. I know that the "seen" flag is stored in the filename, but was wondering if anyone knew of a way to separate it out? I know this would strictly-speaking break maildir compatibility, but it would be extremely useful for shared folders.
I've been given the task of replacing the (extremely heavily used) shared folders functionality

mdbox and shared \Seen flag
Hi,
I've just switched mail storage from maildir to mdbox and found it's very
amazing.
The only question I've is related to shared mailboxes. In the past I've
had a few mailboxes that were shared between two users by just symlinking
maildir. So everything was shared including flags and \Seen status. Now I
want to get something like this.
As far as I understand,

Public folders, individual SEEN flags
Hi list
I'm trying to set up shared public folders with individual SEEN flags.
I've set up three test users, but as soon as one of them marks a mail in
the public folder as seen or unseen, that change is propagated to all
three users. If I watch the dovecot.index.log file in each user's
directory for the public folder, I see all three change their last access
time as soon as one user

how to store flags \Seen into read-only mailbox?
Hi,
I'm trying to use dovecot for storing mailing lists and read-only access for users.
The OS is Solaris, authentication for all readers of these lists are from Ldap through PAM, and one local user "listuser" will receive all mail and store them into it's folders (Maildirs). These maildirs are readable (read-only) for all others and they are shared by setting

Keeping \Seen flag private
Hi all,
I wanna to set up shared folders for a couple of users and I'd like that
everyone could keep the \Seen flag as private. So if user #1 reads some
messages and user #2 not, those messages appear as "unseen" to #2 and "seen"
to #1.
I've implemented shared folders using namespaces with every user having their
own "control" and "private"

dovecot-shared and shared "\Seen" flags
(Running Dovecot 1.1.0) Is it possible to either -
(a) Still have shared "\Seen" flags even while using the dovecot-shared file
or
(b) Indicate to Dovecot in some way other than the dovecot-shared file
which permissions to use for any messages created?
The problem is, in my shared folder (using symlinks) scenario I am
using, I have to use the dovecot-shared file to make sure new

Seen flag in maildir filename not being respected
Hi,
I'm using dovecot 1.1.2 (but I've noticed this since 1.1.1 which I
was using until yesterday). It seems dovecot is ignoring the "S" flag in
Maildir filenames, and is relying only in its Index Files to determine
if a message has been read or not.
I say that because if I delete the dovecot.index.* files for a mail
folder, all the mails in there appear as unread. Also,

Changing the Seen Flags
Hi ,
Can we change the setting on dovecot so that the Seen mail flag S should
be saved
where everybody can see that and not in the dovecot.index file
As we are facing problems with public folder read/unread mails.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks,

Shared mailboxes, index files and 'per-user-seen' flags
Hello,
i have a dovecot server version 2.3.1 under CentOS 6.9 and we're
using shared mailboxes with index files shared. With this configuration
I can see a lot of error messages like:

Maildir permissions, shared folders & postfix
Hi there,
It's my understanding that shared folders can be implemented in the
Dovecot IMAP server by simply symlinking one maildir to another, eg:
$ ls -lan /home/DOMAIN/ned/.maildir/
total 40
drwx------ 9 10012 10000 440 Jan 9 04:23 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 10012 10000 160 Jan 6 06:32 ..
drwx------ 5 10012 10000 264 Jan 9 04:21 .Deleted Items

dovecot-lda delivery to Maildir/cur as 'seen'?
Hi
I've added a server-side feature where authenticated customers sending
through our SMTP server have their outbound mail copied to their Sent
folder (like Gmail does). The delivery script called by qmail calls
dovecot-lda to deliver it to the user's Sent folder.
The problem now, is that the Sent folder shows the mail as unread,
which MUAs flag (and notify, in the case of some).

How to manage Seen flags via sieve?
I use public namespace for group mailboxes. If someone sends email
from this mailbox , MTA detects it and delivers copy of that message
to mailbox/Sent folder, to keep history of all messages available for
every group member. I'd like to set Seen flag on all messages that
dovecots deliver puts into "Sent" folder. Is it posible somehow?

Control of \Seen flags dovecot 1.2.9
Hi All,
I have public mailboxes working with ACL's now, and I'm testing the ACL
behavior. I've added lrws to two users so they can check off the messages
they have read. I'm using CONTROL and INDEX in the location parameter for
the namespace. It appears that if one user marks a message as read,
all users see that message read.
Is there any way to configure dovecot, so that

Replication and public folders with private (seen) flags
We started using Dovecot replication between two nodes and noticed that
our configured private flags (INDEXPVT) in public/shared mailboxes are
not replicated. We are only replicating INBOX namespace, as we dont want
to replicate content of shared mailboxes for every user again.
Is there a way to replicate the INDEXPVT or is that not (yet) implemented?

local seen flags with shared mailboxes
Hello all,
after recent upgrade from 2.0.5 to 2.0.8 it seems that local seen flags for
mails reside in shared mailboxes doesn?t work anymore.
Before the upgrade I had read mails with account #1. Account #2 (who has
access via acl) saw the mails still as unread.
Now, no matter who read the mails, the other account see the same flags,
immediately.
I read the related wiki pages again and tried to

Dovecot 2.2.14 and per user \Seen flags
Hello,
I have a Dovecot Installation Version 2.2.14 on CentOS 6.5 with shared folder.
UserA shares his INBOX to user UserB. I activated "per user \Seen flags" with
location = maildir:%%h/Maildir:INDEX=%h/shared/%%u:CONTROL=%h/shared/%%u:INDEXPVT=%h/shared
I think the INDEXPVT setting activates this setting, right?
I activated this setting when there were already several accounts in

Shared mailboxes (maildir, symlinks) and permissions
Hello list,
I am trying to set up a public mailbox for users to put spam in so that
sa-learn can do its job at night. Only I can't seem to fully understand how
and which permissions should be set. I've read [1] and am using Dovecot
1.0.1.
First some background information: I do not host or care (at the moment) about
virtual users or virtual mail hosting. All users have Unix system

Per-user "Seen" flags on public folder
Dear all,
sorry to bother the list again, I have a small configuration issue again with public (shared) folders.
These folders should have per-user Seen flags, so I configured:
namespace {
type = public
separator = .
prefix = public.
location = maildir:/var/mail/public:INDEX=%u/public
subscriptions = no
list = children
}
But this only seems to work with my account (presumably as I

Dovecot Sendmail Maildir
Hi all,
I'm using Debian (testing) for my office mail. I'm using sendmail
and Dovecot to deliver email to clients over IMAP using mbox format.
I want to move over and start using Maildir. I know that I can use
different MTA's to do the job, but I really like sendmail, and I run
additional sendmail servers across the my internal and external
networks. I'm probably
