Import from Evolution
I need to import the mail database generated by the evolution mail reader into dovecot. Evolution stores its mail in maildir format (fully standards compatible, I think); I would be using the maildir format in dovecot. Is there anything in the wiki, etc. explaining exactly how to do this? Why do this? Evolution is hopelessly broken, and is not likely to be fixed in the forseeable future, and

No domain server was available to validate your password.
I am a Samba newbie who has just set up a Samba server running under Fedora Core 3 and a client running under Win 98. When I log in, I get the message: No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources. Setting up mixed mbox and maildir
I'm trying to set up a dovecot server for which mail arrives in an mbox, and mail is stored in a maildir. The wiki (see http://wiki.dovecot.org/Namespaces) refers to this as "Mixed mbox and Maildir". It advises handling this situation by creating two namespaces: one for the mbox and the other for the maildir. Each of these namespaces starts with namespace private { On the other

Comparing snapshots?
Hi, for a backup program I have to find all differing files (including metadata) in two snapshots taken from the same subvolume. Having looked at the find-new command I thought about this process: 1. Get the two transids when the two snapshots were created. 2. Query modifications to the original subvolume between the two transids. Is the general process corrent or have I overseen

building in AIXV5.3 using the IBM C for AIX compiler V6.0
What fun. I don't often stoke up the boiler and actually compile open-source code, but here I am at the beginning of just such a joyous and wondrous adventure. I'm running the latest level of AIX (V5.3...V4.3 has been obsolete for at least, what, 5 years) and using the IBM compiler (xlc is similarly obsolete, from back when the compiler came with the O/S...oh, for the halcyon days of

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. I got the error below, but when I changed the prefix in 4archives to Archive/ I am getting indeed something that is looking ok, I still have to test with a few clients. Why did you call the namespace 4archives? Because it would load before inbox? Or does this not matter at all. Error: namespace configuration error: Duplicate namespace prefix: ""

Dovecot IMAP INBOX Namespace iPhone
Hi Guys, Our ISP who is hosting our email, recently moved our domain's email onto a new mail server, which is apparently running Dovecot, and has support for IMAP. * OK Dovecot ready. Most of the email clients have not had a problem moving from the old server to the new server. But some have! Including the iPhone users. The problem is that the INBOX is not directly accessible through the

INBOX of a shared namespace appears to be always subscribed
In dovecot 1.2.10 I run into the following problem: Our users are entitled to share their personal mailboxes. This works. But if user A shares any of its mailboxes with user B, then dovecot always reports the INBOX of user A as subscribed by user B. No matter whether user B really subscribed the INBOX of A, or whether user A permitted user B the access to its INBOX. The problem is caused

Namespace, Sieve and upgrading to dovecot 2.0 -- no folder "INBOX/"
I just upgraded from debian squeeze->wheezy. This meant upgrading from dovecot 1.2 to 2.1.7 and upgrading to Pigdeonhole sieve. I have dovecot configured to use sieve and virtual users (I'll post config below) Now any message that come in get filtered by sieve, but any messages that don't hit any filters gives the error (in the sieve log): msgid=<XXXX at XXX.com>: failed to
