Storage Pools & nodedev-create specific scsi_host#?
Hello everyone,
Current host build is RHEL 6.2, soon to be upgrading.
I'm in the process of mapping out a KVM/RHEV topology. I have questions about the landscape of storage pools and the instantiation of specific scsi_host IDs using virsh nodedev-create and some magic XML definitions. I'm grouping these questions together because the answer to one may impact the other.

LVM Thin Volumes & Storage Pools
Hi,
Is it possible to create a storage pool based on an LVM thin pool? I
read a recent bugzilla but the problem there was that the storage-pool
became unusable AFTER creating a thinpool which is a different case.
Thanks,
Jorge

virsh modified option... alternative..
Hi All,
I am new to libvirt, i wander how we can achieve below objective, i
read through a lot from libvirt.org but couldn't found any thing solid
something equivalent to this:-
virsh dumpxml dom > /tmp/dom.xml
$EDITOR /tmp/dom.xml && virsh define /tmp/dom.xml
What i try to achieve is to have one management server that install
with libvirt in place then we can use libvirt

dumpxml removes <source> portion from network descritiption
Hello.
I have a strange error with one of my VMs. If i use dumpxml to save a VM
description the source part of the network part is missing. This prevents
redifining the machine from the dumped xml file:
This is how it looks before dumpxml:
<interface type='bridge'>
<mac address='52:54:00:34:a1:56'/>
<source bridge='br406'/>

libvirtd does not update VM .xml configuration on filesystem after virsh blockcommit
Hi,
Recently We've upgraded some KVM hosts from Fedora 29 to Fedora 30 and
now experience broken VM configurations on filesystem after virsh blockcommit.
Commands "virsh dumpxml ..." and "virsh dumpxml --inactive ..." is showing diffrent configuration than the one on filesystem.
In case of restart libvirtd or system reboot, there are broken VM xml configurations on

Problem with nmbd??
I recently installed Samba-2.0.6 on my machine. I copied the smb.conf
over from another, working machine that I just got rid of. Anyway, I
can't seem to get things working. Here are some files:
when I 'restart' nmb in SWAT

Netbios nameserver version 2.0.6 started.

list mac or IP of all guests NICs?
I'm trying to figure out how to use virsh (or something else) to list all
the IP addresses (or MAC addresses if needed) for each virtual NIC,
preferably with it domain affiliation also listed.
Is this possible?
Thanks,

Associating a statefile with an image
Hi ,
I am trying to perform offline migration (i.e) Create an incremental image using the qcow format, transfer the vm memory state to a state fie.Use the image and statefile together as a template. Now create a new vm using the template. I can successfully do it using the following commands :
Save phase :
stop
migrate "exec:gzip -c > STATEFILE.gz"
qemu-img

Libvirt Virtualization Problem
Dear Sir/Madam:
I use virt-manager to create a new virtual machine(it's name is generic), then I edit generic to set it's cpu_mode as 'host-model', and I start it, but when dumpxml generic, it's cpu_mode is changed as 'custom'.
I want to know that why it is?
And what's the principle of dumpxml?
Thanks!

The error pasted by Cole in the bug should be the real reason, which is
overridden by the later pool stopping.

SR-IOV Pool Availability
If I'm using the SR-IOV Pool assignment method (from
http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Assignment_from_a_pool_of_SRIOV_VFs_in_a_libvirt_.3Cnetwork.3E_definition
), how would I check how many virtual functions are already in use?
Is there a method other then looping through all the active guests and
determining if they're using the SR-IOV interface?

virt-install with --channel option inquiry
hi, virt guys,
This is Hongqing from Fedroa QA team. I try to forward the guest installation logs to host with virtio.
I have used virsh edit <guestName> to add a channel, it works fine.
I think it would be better if I can initialize it when I create the guest using virt-install,
and virt-install also offers the option, I have tried below, but it does not work.

I have changed to: JefroOsierMixon

click Save. Hopefully it will complete at some point - I will keep checking
back.
