centos 6.3
Dear All
I want to put my stuff on centos 6.3 but some colleagues warned that
it is not wise to use it at now for some bugs reported. Can you please
confirm if this is true and which vulnerability can be risked for ?
Thank you

Internal RAID controllers question
Speaking from experience (I cannot go into detail on this point), and as
Digimer pointed out, LSI seems to be the only choice for enterprise level,
large scale deployments.
If your concern is extremely long term deployments with verifiable data
recovery options, software RAID is the only option, as you have strong
guarantees that the implementation will never "die" as hardware RAID

Internal RAID controllers question
Dear Experts,
one of the RAID threads today prompted me ask everybody.
Which internal hardware RAID controllers will survive some future to come
in your estimate. First of all my beloved 3ware finally seems to have
passed away. After multiple acquisitions and becoming part of LSI and
getting bought with LSI, it probably became non operational. Namely, the
latest 3ware cards have ancient

kickstart raid disk partitioning
Hello.
A couple of years ago I installed two file-servers
using kickstart. The server has two 1TB sata disks
with two software raid1 partitions as follows:
# cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1]
md1 : active raid1 sdb4[1] sda4[0]
933448704 blocks [2/2] [UU]
md0 : active raid1 sdb1[1] sda2[2](F)
40957568 blocks [2/1] [_U]
Now the drives are starting to be failing and next week

RAID questions
Hello,
Just a couple questions regarding RAID. Here's thesituation.
I bought a 4TB drive before I upgraded from 6.8 to 7.3. I'm not too far
into this that Ican't start over. I wanted disk space to backup 3 other
machines. I way overestimated what I needed for full, incremental and
image backups with UrBackup.I've used less than 1TB so far. I would like
to add an additional drive

Announcing a new HA KVM tutorial!
Almost exactly two years ago, I released the first tutorial for building
an HA platform for KVM VMs. In that time, I have learned a lot, created
some tools to simplify management and refined the design to handle
corner-cases seen in the field.
Today, the culmination of that learning is summed up in the "2nd
Edition" of that tutorial, now called "AN!Cluster Tutorial 2".

Best configuration for encrypted software RAID 1?
I'm setting up a computer with CentOS 6.4 and a mirrored software
RAID. I would like it to be encrypted so I was wondering what the best
configuration is. The only info I could find is
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-docs/2008-October/001912.html
but it appears to be a bit old and the info on the wiki (
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/EncryptTmpSwapHome ) doesn't seem to

CentOS 6.2 software raid 10 with LVM - Need help with degraded drive and only one MBR
CentOS Community,
I have a dedicated server with 4 hard drives in a RAID 10 software
configuration running LVM. My OS is CentOS 6.2. Earlier today, I
rebooted my system and my system did not come back online. I opened a
ticket with my datacenter who informed me that one of my hard drives is
no longer recognized by the bios and has failed. I was told that an OS
reinstall was needed.

RAID 6 - opinions
I'm setting up this huge RAID 6 box. I've always thought of hot spares,
but I'm reading things that are comparing RAID 5 with a hot spare to RAID
6, implying that the latter doesn't need one. I *certainly* have enough
drives to spare in this RAID box: 42 of 'em, so two questions: should I
assign one or more hot spares, and, if so, how many?
