ConnBytes iptables match
Hi, as I promised in LARTC list I created patch for new connbytes match. It matches packets which bellongs to connection which transfered given range of bytes. For those interested it is at http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/connbytes/ It was originaly meant to be used with HTB or other qdisc to reclassify long download streams to lower prio class. devik

Iptables connbytes
Hello, Is it possible to mark packets from particular IP and if it downloads over 100Kbytes, then it enters in CBQ shaper 32kbit/s for example ? My kernel is 2.4.22. If someone experimented with connection bytes patch please answer me. Apache Changing IPtables C 5.6 via Apache
When a web site is attacked, so far by unsuccessful hackers, my error routine adds the attackers IP address, prefixed by 'deny', to that web site's .htaccess file. It works and the attacker, on second and subsequent attacks, gets a 403 error response. I want to extend the exclusion ability to every web site hosted on a server. My preferred method is iptables. However, when

OT: Bittorrent clients
Hi all, Just switched my home computer from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6 and I'm having a slight bit of trouble with the bittorrent-clients. * Transmission is fine but lacks "a bit" in features. * Vuze is my preferred bt-client but gives me horrendous gfx-artifacts, like not showing the torrent name (it's white text on a white background or some such...). * Deluge is better, and

Troubles with tc/iptables - per TCP session tc
Hello, I have read most of the relevant emails already posted to the LARTC mailingilist and I have not found a solution to my problem. What I am trying to do is: limit the HTTP output traffic to 30Mbps and also to limit each HTTP connection at 512Kbps, if the client downloads more than 1MB. I have managed to limit the total traffic but not the traffic of each HTTP connection. Here it is my

Differentiating between http downloads and interactive traffic
Hi, I''ve been wondering if anyone has thought of a way to differentiate between an established http download and interactive http traffic? I would like to give interactive http traffic priority over someone downloading large files. Has anyone any ideas how to detect packets that are part of a download like this? Thanks. _______________________________________________

CentOS based router dropping connections
Hello, I am trying to figure out a problem I'm having using CentOS on a machine as a router. The short story is: any traffic routed through the router seems to get disconnected at random occasionally. The hardware setup is: I have two switches, the router sits between them, the webserver on the LAN switch. The machine I'm using for the router is a Dell 860 1U rackmount with two NICs,

Making tcp start transfers slow
Hey list I have almost gotten my shaping setup up and running as planned. The last barrier seems to be tcp overshooting availible bandwidth when its starting a transfer, and thereby bursting the line, so ping rises for a moment. At least this is my best guess at the problem :) There is a possibility that its just plain old traffic being bursty for some reason.. I am using bittorrent to test this,

Multiple ISP + traffic shapping = poor download speed
Hello, Thanks for the great Shorewall which has replaced my hard to maintain home-made scripts. First, what works. Our local network is 10.48.X.X with multiple vlan, each on a dedicated interface. We use Shorewall 4.4.11 from Debian Squeeze. We have a 2 ISP: - isp1 : an optical fiber provider with 10 Mbps. - isp2 : a DSL provider with 15Mbits/1Mbits. We use isp2 as the default outgoing
