CentOS 5.5 does not recognise SAS drives with LSI 1068E Controller
I need to do a new CentOS net install on a new server having the Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000V/X7DVL-3.cfm Based on that info I assume the board having a "8x SAS Ports via LSI 1068E Controller". We received the server with 3 drives + 1 spare as hw RAID-5 preinstalled. During bootup I see that the drives are initialised

Not able to run kernel-xen with megasr module :/
I've managed to install CentOS 5.1 on S5000PAL with fakeraid Intel Embedded Raid Technology II Raid1 (LSI chipset) with some help of kickstart declaration 'driverdisk --source=http://.../driver.img' Then I've had some problems with yum update - new kernel didn't know about megasr.ko. I've solved it with commands: cd /lib/modules/ cp 2.6.18-53.el5PAE/updates/megasr.ko

Installing CentOS 5.4 64bit on server with LSI SAS 1068E controller.
I'm trying to install CentOS 5.4 on a machine with a LSI SAS 1068E controller. I've googled all over the place and found a few different drivers for RHEL5 for it.. and tried a few of them.. Some will load, some complain that this isn't the correct version.. non of them work when it comes to showing Hard Drivers in the partition manager. The machine is a Supermicro SYS-6015V-M3

SuperOdoctor for super-micro
Rats... found some hardware monitoring from the vendor and it's broken, or I'm missing some pieces. No mention of CentOS specifically, but RH is supported, so figured it *ought* to work. I'm apparently missing a library -- liblinc.so.1, and a net search reveals several sources, both for x86 and 64-bit. Tried them both, after the x86 did not work, and the 64-bit I thought was

OT: LSI SAS1068e / Perc6/iR RAID Health
Is anybody here monitoring Dell SAS6/iR RAID health? I have a mix of CentOS 5.9 and 6.3 installs on the PE1950s. I'm finding drivers and Megaraid Storage Manager downloads via LSI's site, but I'd prefer not to install a bunch of crapware. All I need is the proper LSI daemon which exports info via SNMP. I've used check_sasraid_megaraid Nagios script [0] in the past for PERC5i and

Installing a CentOS based distro with Raid driver - Citrix XenServer
Hi everyone, I'm trying to install a XenServer on a server (ref:S5000PAL) http://www.intel.com/products/server/motherboards/s5000pal/s5000pal-overview.htm The installation failed because of lack of Raid driver, I found this out because I tried to install XenServer without raid and it worked great. I tried so many drivers, I don't know what to do I tried also this trick :

Is LSI SAS3081E-R suitable for a ZFS NAS ?
According to various posts the LSI SAS3081E-R seems to work well with OpenSolaris. But I''ve got pretty chilled-out from my recent problems with Areca-1680''s. Could anyone please confirm that the LSI SAS3081E-R works well ? Is hotplug supported ? Anything else I should know before buying one of these cards ? Thanks, Arnaud

kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15
Hi, It seems to me, that kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15 is maybe not ok. I have been trying to rebuild my patched kernel RPMS in virtual machine running i686 kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15. It had failed for the three times with segmentation fault. First run under kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14 went smoothly. So, maybe it's a kernel issue or it's VMWare (Server 1.04). Anyone to reproduce the issue? Thanks, David

kernel-vm.i686 5.0-->5.1 "Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers is needed by package glibc-headers"
Cough, cough, cough (I have a bit of a cold, please excuse me) Thanks for the great CentOS. I assume the following means I need to humbly ask for the kernel-vm for 5.1, but I am not certain. If so, I hereby humbly ask. --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers for package: glibc-headers --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers >= 2.2.1 for package:

Network Problem after update 3.0 -> 3.1: blkback
Hello, I have a big problem: Dom0 is centos5.1, domU are centos5.1. My setup is really simple, the only thing is that I give 3 nics to the domU so I use a modified network script (which has worked since january... since fedora 6): " #!/bin/sh dir=$(dirname "$0") "$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=0 "$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=1

iptables & kernel problems on Debian domU
Hi, I have a Debian 4.0 XEN dom, which is giving me some strange errors on the kernel when I try and use iptables, as such: stats:/etc/snmp# iptables -L -v Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.6.18-8.1.15.el5xen/modules.dep modprobe: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented modprobe: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented modprobe: Can''t locate module ip_tables

Questions about kernel updates
The latest CentOS 5 kernel, 2.6.18-8.1.15.el5 broke my box and I had to drop back to 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5 before I could play DVDs with either Xine or mplayer. ( xine-0.99.5-1.el5.rf & mplayer-1.0-0.36.rc1try2.el5.rf ). This is no big deal to me -- as long as I can make certain that the older kernel doesn't go away. If I understand the installonly plugin correctly, an entry of tokeep=4 in

FW: Logwatch for XXXXXXX.kd4efm.org (Linux)
Found an error or two from my logwatch report from yesterday, thought I would share this in hopes this is just first time run of the problem I noticed in the Kernel report section... Also not sure why there's an issue with automount either.... but I guess I could ask on that issue as well. I am not worried about the NAMED error, this is something that happens due to one of the services that

CleanLog.h
Sad to say one of my file servers was exploited and used to run a Phishing scam. Have identified subject virus amongst other things. It appears twice in a virus scan; /sbin/z (which I assume can just be deleted) and /sys/bus/serio/drivers/atkbd/description. The latter file is also present in identical uninfected machines. I have been unable to open the file, even with root privileges, although
