[PATCH 6/6] kernel: set USER_DS in kthread_use_mm
Some architectures like arm64 and s390 require USER_DS to be set for kernel threads to access user address space, which is the whole purpose of kthread_use_mm, but other like x86 don't. That has lead to a huge mess where some callers are fixed up once they are tested on said architectures, while others linger around and yet other like io_uring try to do "clever" optimizations for

is this null block OK?
Hi, A system running ext3 crashed this afternoon (nothing to do with ext3, bad network driver). Is was saving a file from emacs when it happened. The file system is 0.06b and had ordered data as the mount option. Let me emphasize this was running ext3 pure, not with SnapFS or InterMezzo layered on top of it. strace reveals that Emacs does open("existing file name", O_TRUNC |

[PATCH] Btrfs: stop using vfs_read in send
Apparently we don''t actually close the files until we return to userspace, so stop using vfs_read in send. This is actually better for us since we can avoid all the extra logic of holding the file we''re sending open and making sure to clean it up. This will fix people who have been hitting too many files open errors when trying to send. Thanks, Signed-off-by: Josef Bacik

[PATCH 5/6] kernel: better document the use_mm/unuse_mm API contract
Switch the function documentation to kerneldoc comments, and add WARN_ON_ONCE asserts that the calling thread is a kernel thread and does not have ->mm set (or has ->mm set in the case of unuse_mm). Also give the functions a kthread_ prefix to better document the use case. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch at lst.de> --- drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_amdkfd.h | 4 +--

NFS/RDMA connection closed
Hi, we are having a problem with NFS using RDMA protocol over our FDR10 Infiniband network. I previously wrote to NFS mailing list about this, so you may find our discussion there. I have taken some load off the server which was using NFS for backups, and converted it to use SSH, but we are still having critical problems with NFS clients losing connection to the server, causing the clients

[PATCH] Upgrade vtpmd to berlios version 0.7.4
What will follow soon are updates to vtpmd, vtpm_manager, xm, xl, mini-os, and new vtpm and vtpm manager stub domains. The first patch I''d like to submit upgrades vtpmd to version 0.7.4 This patch does the following: -add checks to configure to check for cmake (required by berlios 0.7.4) -removes all of the 0.5.1 patches -adds a single patch for 0.7.4 -cleans up the makefile, should

Bug#536720: xen-utils-3.2-1: Missing import statement / Syntax Errors in XendPBD.py
Package: xen-utils-3.2-1 Severity: important Hello! When using xenapi.PBD.create() the following error occurs: xen.xm.XenAPI.Failure: Internal error: global name 'genuuid' is not defined. (Attached you can find the logging of the remote host.) This (and other syntax errors) are already fixed in the xen-unstable.hg (see http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg?rev/7fd49c55c0b0).

improve use_mm / unuse_mm
Hi all, this series improves the use_mm / unuse_mm interface by better documenting the assumptions, and my taking the set_fs manipulations spread over the callers into the core API.

[PATCH 2.5.69 1/3] remove ipconfig support from the kernel
This patch removes IP autoconfiguration (CONFIG_IP_PNP and friends) support from the kernel, and ensures that using NFS as the root filesystem (CONFIG_NFS_ROOT) will no longer work. b/arch/alpha/defconfig | 1 b/arch/arm/def-configs/a5k | 1 b/arch/arm/def-configs/adi_evb | 4 b/arch/arm/def-configs/adsbitsy | 4

puppetlabs-firewall scope
Hello, I can''t figure out how I can use the module puppetlabs-firewall only for some targeted nodes. If I put : resources { "firewall": purge => true } in top scope (i.e. site.pp), then all the firewall rules on all my nodes are purged. Even for nodes for which I don''t apply any module containing specific firewall { ... } resources. If I put it in a module

[PATCH 2/2] vhost: lockless enqueuing
We use spinlock to synchronize the work list now which may cause unnecessary contentions. So this patch switch to use llist to remove this contention.
