Hi!
As many of you will have noticed already, I took the liberty to reorganize
the CVS tree structure. This was needed to get a better seperation
between independent parts of the project. =20

Database reorganization
Hi people,
I need reorganization several databases. I would like to know if that is
possible in R. My problem is like that:
original data base:
Age x1980 x1981
1 5 8
3 7 9
5 9 15
7 11 20
future data base
year age x
1980 1 5
1980 3 7
1980 5 9
1980 7 11
1981 1 8
1981 3 9

Reorganization of packages in the R distribution
After long but intermittent discussion (it was mentioned at DSC99, for
example), we have reorganized the standard packages, with
base graphics stats utils methods
normally loaded,
mle splines stepfun tcltk tools
available for loading, and
ctest eda lqs modreg mva nls ts
as stub packages which ensure back-compatibility. (These have all been
merged into stats except lqs which rejoins

.First and base reorganization in R 1.9.0
I noticed that, in R1.9.0 beta where the old 'base' package has been split into 4, '.First' gets executed with just the new 'base' loaded, before 'stats' 'utils' and 'graphics' are available. The NEWS file does warn that this will be the case for .Rprofile, but doesn't mention .First.
Is this actually the intended behaviour where .First is

Please make lowess() generic (was: Reorganization of pac kagesin the R distribution)
I don't really see the point. lowess() is a two-dimensional smoother only
so the main point would only be to allow lowess(y ~ x, dat) instead of
lowess(dat$x, dat$y).

Please make lowess() generic (was: Reorganization of packages in the R distribution)
As I've mentioned a number of times. I find it very useful to have lowess()
become a generic function so that a lowess.formula() can be defined.
Below is a patch that makes both changes, as well as updating the
corresponding help documentation.

xen reorganization
Hi folks
I tried to find a solution for the update problem. Currently I have 3
kernels, 2.6.16-16, 2.6.16-17 and 2.6.17-6 and each of them needs
another hypervisor. As it is the goal of Debian to not break on updates
completely, I propose the following change:
* Introduce xen-common source which provides xen-utils-common binary packages.
This package provides a dispatcher for the installed

Icecast Station Browser for Winamp Media Library...
There has been a lot of talk lately about the Icecast YP, and also the fact
that Shoutcast has started to refuse listings of mp3pro streams...so given
a bit of free time on my hands (yes occasionally it happens) I wrote this
-> http://www.oddsock.org/tools/ml_icecastlist/. It's only for winamp
users, and it integrates the icecast YP into the Winamp Media Library...Who

web service authentication
after almost a week of trial and error, i''ve finally got a hold of
creating a web service in rails. after all this time though, i''m still
not quite sure if i can make it work the way i want it to.
i was basically trying to create a login portal so that the users at our
company can have one place to login for all of our internal
applications. well, right now - i can have each

Reorganizing Puppet Documentation
Greetings,
As the first step in a move to better organize the documentation,
we''re planning to reorganize it into more specific subsections. The
proposed subsections are listed below. If you have any feelings
about the reorganization or would like to call attention to a need
for documentation in one area of the project or another, please feel

Note: /download/ directory reorganized
I reorganized the download directory to make it a bit
less confusing:
http://libguestfs.org/download/
Unfortunately this breaks all previous source URLs:
old: http://libguestfs.org/download/libguestfs-1.5.4.tar.gz
new: http://libguestfs.org/download/1.5-development/libguestfs-1.5.4.tar.gz
Also I'm going to put some binaries in this directory later today, for
people not using Fedora

[LLVMdev] Reorganizing the documentation.
Hi Daniel, Bill, all,
Now that the Sphinx conversion is done, I'm going to move forward with
the plan which was discussed in
<http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.compilers.llvm.cvs/115358>.
The first step is going to be to inline all of the pages that are just
below the current homepage (subsystems.rst, programming.rst, etc.)
into the homepage, bringing back {Ctrl,Cmd}-f'ability.
