Wx::Scintilla class not defined
I''m posting this for a friend who is having trouble with this and here is his message. "Heya! I''m working on a script editor application, but it''s missing one key feature: Syntax highlighting. Seeing this, I looked around in the sample directory and came across scintilla.rb. I attempted a run, however Ruby reported Wxruby2::Scintilla as an uninitialized

Control Characters
I am attempting a text editor using wxRuby. I''m having character issues. Strings are not binary-safe. Some characters are not allowed. - newline / line feed (\n), tab (\t) are displayed - carraige return (\r) is stripped - Other control characters and high-ascii cause control values to become empty. Affected controls include: Wx::TextCtrl, Wx::StaticText, Wx::Clipboard, et al. Most

Scintilla
wxScintilla already comes with a SWIG friendly header file. I modified the rakewx and the Scintilla.i file to include it directly from the wxScintilla install. This means it''s an odd-ball compared to our other classes. Does anyone see a problem with this? I think it''s best to use the one supplied with the installation to avoid problems of the header file getting out of

wxScintilla vs. StyledTextControl
There is a contribution called ''stc'' (StyledTextControl) that comes with wxWidgets. It appears that this is -also- a wrapper around Scintilla. I can''t tell if one or the other of these two is a better choice or if there''s a particular reason to favor one over the other. I can see that having the source available right there in the contrib directory would

wxRIDE Finally Available
Hello fellow wxRuby users, Well, after a long period in which I originally announced that I was creating an IDE, I have finally become satisfied enough to release a SVN Version of wxRIDE. I started the project out, and in cases where I couldn''t launch the application again, I utilized SciTE (Which uses Scintilla, same as wxRIDE), outside of that initial part, and subsequent failures to

build problems
I am running on a redhat linux box. I could not use the binary package because I do not have libXinerama, and installing it is a nightmare of dependencies (and I am not root, so I can''t use the package manager). So I am trying to install from source. I installed wxGTK-2.8.7. I downloaded wxruby-1.9.2, and issued "rake", and got: rake aborted! WIN32 has been removed, use

Where can I find a list of events for each widget?
I''ve searched the documentation like crazy but I can''t seem to find the events for each of the widgets. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

screenshots & wxruby apps
Hi I''ve added a page to the wiki to show some screenshots opf the wxRuby samples: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?ScreenShots I''d like to get some screenshots for OS X to add to this, if anyone could supply them please. It would be nice to show the minimal sample for all three platforms, plus perhaps some of the ones that aren''t included there. Also if

1.9.2, OpenGL
[third sending attempt...] I''m going to try and test out the samples on MSW over the next few days and if things look good I think we should release 1.9.2. Might try and fix the bugs related to TreeCtrl#get_first_child as these might involve minor API changes. So if anyone has any time to test out SVN HEAD and look for anything funny, please do. Also, we have an anonymous patch

0.0.38 release?
Hi Should we look to do a 0.0.38 release soon? I think we should get an updated set of gems out there to show we are making progress. So if you have a moment over the next couple of days, please could you post how stable a release gem from SVN HEAD is on your OS? Linux seems OK on release, crashes in debug mode - which seem to relate to the same failed assertion from wx/event.h.

MediaCtrl
Hi. Attached you find an attempt to adding MediaCtrl to WxRuby. It''s only tested on windows (compiled with msvc 6.0). Everything seems to be working fine except for a small problem with a few functions: wxFileOffset Seek(wxFileOffset where, wxSeekMode mode = wxFromStart); wxFileOffset Tell(); //FIXME: This should be const wxFileOffset Length(); //FIXME: This should be const

API survey results & update
Thanks to everyone who voted in the API style survey. We had 10 votes altogether - we''re not electing the prime minister, after all - but it was decisively a yes. 90% (9/10) supported adding keyword constructors, and 77% (7/9) ruby-style accessors. The changes are summarised at the bottom of the email. We hope to have a 1.9.1 release incorporating these in the next week or two.

App freezes on wxruby-19-2.0.1 on Windows, fine on Mac
With wxRuby-ruby19- v2.0.1, my app works well on Mac. But on Windows, it freezes after typing up to a dozen of characters in a StyledTextControl, mouse operations are fine. Once freezing, Ctrl+C couldn''t end the process. My env: Windows XP ruby 1.9.1p243 (2009-07-16 revision 24175) [i386-mingw32] It might be specific to my application (no issues on Ruby 1.8 with wxRuby 2.0.0

Scintilla to try out
Here''s a .zip file with the files and directory structure needed to try out my scintilla changes. It also included a help file. You''ll, of course, need to download wxScintilla from here: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=51305&package_id=45182 Oh. Hmm, I just noticed he made a new build today. I guess I''ll have to go see what''s

Wx::Scintilla - working
At last, managed to get Scintilla up and running on OS X. Sorry it''s taken so long. Patch attached to enable Scintilla to be included in a Mac build. More difficult was how figuring out how to get wxscintilla built in the first place - have added instructions on our ''Building for release'' page on the wiki: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Release_HowTo

syntax II
Hi Given the warm response to the syntax additions in 1.9.1 I''m considering moving one or two more syntax extensions into core, and would like your thoughts. Last ones, I promise. Realise we don''t want much more API change now, but also we''ll probably also have to live with whatever we settle on for 2.0 for a little while, so... 1) Setting up event handlers In

First drop of new memory management
Hi Just a quick update on memory leaks etc. I''ve just dropped a bunch of patches with a new approach to linking ruby''s GC to Wx''s memory handling. Still some work to do - eg bigdemo.rb falls over quite quickly - but working well for me on other samples. Briefly, it disposes of fixdeleting. For almost all objects that aren''t Windows, they should now be

tagged 0.0.37; release plans
Hi I just tagged 0.0.37 in Subversion. I also added a note on the Wiki on how to do this, and how to checkout a clean version: http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Release_HowTo For the build, I''m just about to upload a tarball, and will add a powerpc gem once the compiler''s chugged away. Please upload for your platform as you''re ready. I suggest we announce

0.0.37 release?
I would like to tag and release 0.0.37 soon. I''m thinking of the next few days. We have good new stuff (Printing, Scintilla on OS X, other new classes) and have fixed some bugs. Also, would be good to put the early build probs with the last release behind us. Here''s the patches I think are outstanding: - Wx::App cleanup - rake HTML docs publishing - Scintilla OS X -
