Triggering script from cron or web client
I have a Bash script, currently run a couple times an hour from cron, that
pulls data from an old Windows DB by rsync, converts it to SQL, and injects
it into a MySQL DB for display in a LAMP-based app. (Make and Perl are also
involved to minimize the number of tables touched and to clean up the SQL
generated by Pxlib.)
I'd like to add the ability to refresh the data immediately from the

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
This package provides the X Window System documentation that doesn't belong
in a more specific package. It used to provide a lot of docs that did belong
in more specific packages, but that has largely been corrected in this release:

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-docs 1.4
Major re-organization of the sgml docs. They are now converted from
linuxdoc to docbook and rely on the docbook2x series of tools, so your
build environments need to be updated.

Hi!
Since netfilter/iptables is a volunteer based effort, the project lives
by more participation and involvement of it's user community.
While we receive lots of code contributions (new matches/targets,

Upgrade Doc to DocBook 5.0?
I'd like to ask what you all would think of me upgrading the libvorbis
doc from whatever version of DocBook it presently uses to DocBook 5.0.
There are three good reasons:
- It supports XML namespaces, so you can embed stuff like Scalable
Vector Graphics and MathML right into your DocBook source.
- DocBook 5.0 uses Relax NG Schemas. This is a far, far better
specification language than

Altivec, automake
Thanks. I was worried about the assembler invocation but it looks like you
solved that problem.
Smooth build on my pbook (G4, 10.2.8, gcc-3.3, ac-2.59, am-1.6.3). Only problem
was lack of check for docbook-to-man; my patch is attachments 1-2.
Not so smooth on my imac (G3, 10.2.8, gcc-3.3, ac-2.52, am-1.6.1; that's what
came with the last 10.2-compatible dev tools). First problem: typo in

How To Beat DocBook Into Submission
To better understand how to work with DocBook, I'd like to suggest
that you check out ZooLib's DocBook documentation from its SourceForge
CVS, and use my work as an example to help you with your work. I
just went through the whole painful process of getting it all to work.
Please learn from my example!

Docbook equivalent of Sweave
I have been looking a bit at docbook as an alternative to latex.
However, Sweave is a very nice way to deal with documents mixing R
code, figures, and text as well as markup. I saw a couple of
references in the email archives that people have been experimenting
with combinations of tools (including Sxslt). Is anyone willing to
share their thoughts and practices in basically replacing the

make dist: errors, and www.oasis-open.org almost stale
Hi,
I am trying to create a tarball from a 4.0.3 git checkout using "make
dist", but it throws errors (small sample below, detailed Copy&Paste on
request), and apart from this, www.oasis-open.org seems stale on
connects from xsltproc, as can be seen in the lsof sample, below as well.
Briefly and cheekily asked, is that normal? Are we all omitting docs in
packaging at the moment?

DocBook and XML
I think I can say I've been officially horrified into a coma.
During a routine rebuild after installing DocBook tools, I wandered
away.. and then back and after half an hour, the build was still
stalled on the same command: xsltproc.
Huh? I thought, has it crashed?
Strace revealed that it was making a bazillion connections all over
the net. Loking at the XML, it's clear why. Because

kbs-CentOS-Testing gnucash: status for CentOS 5?
I decided I would like to try GnuCash on my 5.x desktop system. I did an

Work on ICECAST : IcecastAdmin, remodularisation, Doc (Docbook), speex ...
Hello,
3 months ago, we (a group of 8 students of the ENSEIRB engineering
school (France))
started to work on icecast.
We decided to work on another CVS server. The aim _was not to fork a new
version_
of Icecast : the idea was to clean the code as fast as possible in order
for new
developers to enter the sources in an easier way.
We mainly worked on format, sources, and tried to clearly
