Grid.GetTextExtent
Wow. Look what SWIG does to GetTextExtent in Grid.cpp:
void SwigDirector_wxGrid::GetTextExtent(wxString const &string, int *x,
int *y, int *descent, int *externalLeading, wxFont const *font) const {
...
if (swig_get_up()) {
wxWindow::GetTextExtent(string,x,y,descent,externalLeading,font);
return;
}
obj0 = rb_str_new2((const char *)(&string)->mb_str());

Fwd: fix Choice.cpp unicode string
This is needed so that samples/etc/choice.rb shows the strings in the

One of the few places that missed UTF8 convertion.

Service.start arguments failing or causing segfault
Hi,
Unless I''m mistaken the final arguments to Service.start should be
passed to the Daemon''s service_main method. Correct?
I modified the Service.start method (now in CVS) to look something like
this:
def self.start(service, host=nil, *args)
...
num_args = args.length
if args.empty?
args = nil
else
args.unshift(service) # Necessary?

WineLib Warning?
When compiling the following line of code using WineLib 20010731
you get a warning message.
// generates a warning
CompareString(LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT, dwFlags, s1, -1, s2, -1);
These warning relates to the defines found in
include/winbase.h file where we have:
UINT WINAPI CompareStringA(DWORD,DWORD,LPCSTR,DWORD,LPCSTR,DWORD);

More on etc and other stuff
I seem to have gotten the bugs worked out of win32-etc. It seems it had
to do with using WCHAR vs LPWSTR. Once I used AllocWideLString() vs
AllocWideString() everything seemed to work ok.
One question I have now is this - should I always use AllocWideLString()
instead of casting like (LPCWSTR)STR2CSTR(rbVal); ? It would seem so,
but I''m not sure.
Also, I''ve committed the

Calling CreateFile on an instance of File - possible?
Hi all,
I''m going over win32-file this weekend. I''m creating instance methods for
setting (or unsetting) the various file attributes. So, you can do
something like:
f = File.open("foo.txt")
f.archive = true
f.hidden = true
f.close
This works for the basic attributes, but it requires extra work for others.
Specifically, I am having trouble trying to set the

ChangeNotify help wanted
Hi all,
I''ve checked in some code to win32-changenotify. Unfortunately, it
doesn''t work right. I need some help. I don''t understand what,
exactly, I''m supposed to pass to ReadDirectoryChangesW() for the 2nd
argument, nor how to read the data back out.
There''s also a WCHAR issue that needs to be worked out with regards to

Dump on remote filesystems?
I have a couple C5 systems I want to back up. My plan is to, one way or
another, back them up to a C5 machine in my office. I have samba
installed on the systems to back up, the machines are mounted on the
system in my office, and a tape library hanging of the system in my
office.
I was hoping to perform a simple /sbin/dump of the remote systems. I put
together a script for another

[PATCH: node 0/3] replace ovirt-identify-node with matahari
This patchset removes ovirt-identify-node and ovirt-listen awake.
It adds startup script support for the matahari qmf agent, which takes
over the responsibility for communicating node hardware capabilities
to the ovirt-server.
On the server side, host-browser has had its node identification
functionality replaced by a new script, host-register, which is what
interfaces with the matahari qmf agent

[PATCH: ovirt-identify-node replacement 0/4] ovirt node patch to replace ovirt-identify-node with matahari qmf agent
The purpose of this patch is to add support for the matahari qmf agent
package (http://git.et.redhat.com/?p=matahari.git;a=summary) to the node.
The following actions are taken:
1. Deprecate ovirt-identify-node and ovirt-listen-awake by removing
them from the autotools scripts, the rpm spec and the node startup scripts.
2. Remove ovirt-listen-awake and ovirt-identify-node completely.
3. Add

rsync of STDIN to a file.
Hi,
I am hoping that rsync may be able to improve an existing network backup I've got:
tar czf - --files-from $FILE_LIST | ssh -i $AUTH -l $USER $HOST "cat > ${DEST}/${SOURCE}_${FILE}.tgz"
You can see that this backup uses tar to create a single compressed archive and store it on a remote host using ssh. It occurred to me that it might be possible to use rsync. I'm hoping

Getting Registry info and using it ????
HI All,
I am basically installing network driver programatically on Win2000 using
utility provided in DDK2000 samples which is snetcfg.exe which is a command
line utility where you can provide the .inf file for the driver you want.
But I have modified the 'C' program to install only my network driver. Now
the .inf file it needs can be stored anywhere on the computer and I am
storing the

[PATCH 0/4] Improve virtio ID allocation
I noticed you were using IDRs where you could be using the more efficient
IDAs, then while fixing that I noticed the lack of error handling,
and I decided to follow that up with an efficiency improvement.
There's probably a v2 of this to follow because I couldn't figure
out how to properly handle one of the error cases ... see the comment
embedded in one of the patches.

[PATCH] [v4] nouveau: add command-line GSP-RM registry support
Add the NVreg_RegistryDwords command line parameter, which allows
specifying additional registry keys to be sent to GSP-RM. This
allows additional configuration, debugging, and experimentation
with GSP-RM, which uses these keys to alter its behavior.
Note that these keys are passed as-is to GSP-RM, and Nouveau does
not parse them. This is in contrast to the Nvidia driver, which may
parse some
