Problem with Dell Poweredge 1850
All,
I seem to be experiencing the same problem that Michal Urbanski talked
about in an email dated March 24th with a subject of "hanging dell
hardware". Looking through the archives I can not find any resolution to
the problem. The specs on my machine are

I have the exact same issue on several Sunfire v20z (hardware LSI RAID

with heavy VM IO, clocksource causes random dom0 reboots
On Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5) running Xen 4.0, I have created 2 Ubuntu
Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04) vms. The vms, in a stress test, pass a large
file between them via nfs file sharing. A previous entry in this forum
helped to establish that some ethernet cards improve VM IO performance.
However, our box installed with better intel nics is still rebooting
under heavy VM IO loads. The kernel call

No contact info on website and webcast cut.
Hi,
I wanted to point on two issues that I''ve noticed while searching for
info on Ruby on Rails website.
First is that when I downloaded the migrations webcast, it was cut in
strange place. It was 19:07 minutes long and it seems that it should be
a little longer.
Second thing is that when I searched the website to find an e-mail to
report it, I didn''t find it. There is no contact

PROBLEM: [BISECTED] 2.6.35.5 xen domU panics just after the boot
Hello,
kernels 2.6.35.5 and 2.6.32.22 xen domU panics at the very begining of the
boot process.
I have bisected it to a single commit, and the first bad commit is:
[fb412a178502dc498430723b082a932f797e4763] xen: use percpu interrupts for IPIs and VIRQs
kernel v2.6.35.5 with reverted this commit works for me.
Here are the kernel configs I was using:

DC and shares separation
Hi All,
I've got a Samba4.5.15 server which acts both as an DC and a file
server. I'd like to break the setup into two servers without forcing the
users to redo their mappings and links which point the DC's name or fqdn.
My idea is to rename the DC (hostname and netbios) and assign its old
the another server with shares only. Is it possible to do it safely
without disrupting the

rid backed not working
Hi All,
I'd like start using 'rid' idmap backed rather than 'tdb' on my member
servers to keep gidNumbers in sync across the realm INCLUDING the DC.
Problem is when I execute
member1# getent group "MPD1\group1"
I get no output. The gidNumbers fall within the range of 30000-60000.
pestparm passes nicely. No erros logged whilst executing getent.
Could anyone point me

Bug#617232: logcheck: ignore regexes match ipv4 addresses only, causing false positives with ipv6 addresses.
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.3.13
Severity: normal
Various files under ignore.d.* use "[0-9.]{7,15}" to match an IPv4
address, e.g., a connection to rsyncd. However, this does not match
IPv6 addresses, causing spurious reports.
A better regexp might be something like: ([0-9.]{7,15}|[0-9a-f:]{2,39})

guest clock
I have numerous problems with my para- and hardware- virtualizated guests.
Clock in guests drifts up to many days. Sometimes it happens after xendomains
service saves and restores state on reboot, sometimes not, sometimes it
happens when I am sleeping :). I use latest fedora 8 with latest updates (I
have had problem since fedora 6 ...) My proc settings:

You cannot, A DC uses idmap.ldb to store xidNumbers (which are in the
3000000 range), you cannot use the 'rid' or 'ad' backend on a DC.

DomU clock out of sync
Hey all,
I was watching some logs on a domU today and i suddenly noticed that the
timestamps were off by something on the order of 47 seconds. I was
surprised because *I don''t* run independent wall clocks. I checked
some other domUs and the "drift" was also very close to that of the
first domU.
I also checked another dom0, Here the domUs were "only" out of sync by

A Problem : Can NOT install APT or Synaptic for v4.0
Hello,
There was no problem installing "APT" package in
CentOS 4.0 Beta, but so far I could not install
APT or Synaptic by "# yum install apt" or
by "# yum install synaptic" in a usual manner.
Is there any solution for this?
It seems to me, something is wrong only for these
two packages.
Regards.

Unable to mount loopback devices in RAID mode
Hi!
I recently tried to mount a filesystem in RAID1 mode using loopback devices. I followed the instructions at [1]. Here''s exactly what I''ve done:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=raid1_0.img bs=1M count=500
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=raid1_1.img bs=1M count=500
$ mkfs.btrfs -m raid1 -d raid1 raid1_0.img raid1_1.img
$ losetup /dev/loop0 raid1_0.img
$ losetup /dev/loop1 raid1_1.img
$ mount -t

have a hosts allow or hosts deny line in your smb.conf. If you don't
want samba to do reverse lookups, then comment out any allow/deny hosts
lines in your smb.conf file.
