streams in fork
hi all,
is there a way to use fork with redirected streams? i mean in a
similar way that ruby''s standard open3 does it.
i''d like to be able to read the stdout/stdin/stderr streams from the
forked ruby process in the parent process.
cheers,

Webrick script/server file does not exist
Hello all,
I worked fairly enough with PHP and MySQL, but am very new to Ruby.
I have Windows machine with Apache and MySQL installed previously.
Both Apache and MySql were stopped while installing Ruby.
I tried several ways to install Ruby 1.8.7 and one-step installer.
I can use Ruby with netbeans 6.0.1 with its own Ruby or with the one I
installed now.
The problem starts when I try to create

Open3.popen3 oddity
Open3.popen3 returns the pid as well as the in, out, and err streams.
I thought only the streams were supposed to be returned.

open3 for windows
Hi all,
The topic of creating a unified API for open3 for Windows came up at
RubyConf 2004 this year.
Park, I was wondering if you would mind if we modified win32_popen so that
the API matches the open3 library that ships with Ruby.
This also means deciding whether or not to leave in the open2, open4, and
posix stuff. I guess it doesn''t hurt to leave this in, although Open3.open4

Possible problems with EventLog#write
Hi,
I''ve got EventLog#write and EventLog.add_event_source methods done.
Well, I *think* they''re done, but I can''t get the data (text) to work
properly, and I''m not sure if it''s a bug in my .mc file, the
add_event_source method, the write method, or just a goof in my test file.
The source, category and event id seem to be ok. However, the

How do I pass form values from POST controller specs?
Hi there
I just started my first Merb app and I''m running into some weird
things in Specs. When I do:
describe "create action" do
it "should create a new project" do
project_params = {:name => ''bekkunin''}
Project.should_receive(:create).with(project_params)
controller, action = post(''/projects'', :project

Pure win32-thread library?
Hi all,
Here''s my initial stab at a pure Ruby win32-thread library that doesn''t
work at all. I''m not sure how to pass the start address of the arguments
to the callback. I thought about Marshal, but you can''t marshal a proc.
BTW, the CreateThread method in windows-pr needs to be updated for this
to have any hope of success.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan

Another patch of win32-service for nice startup.
Hi,
I believe this patch would be a perfect solution for a lengthy
initialization application.
Added hStartEvent, service_init, checkpoint increments.

Pure Ruby TCP Daemon
Hi all,
I created a "pure" branch on github that uses the code Heesob posted a while
back:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/win32utils-devel/2008-November/001274.html
However, I couldn''t make it work on my Vista laptop.

Problem with the new version of win32-process
Hi all,
Well, I''ve messed something up in the pure Ruby Process.fork method. If
you run the test_fork_waitpid.rb file (in CVS), you''ll see this error:
c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/windows/process.rb:132:in `call'': can''t
convert false into Integer (TypeError)
from c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/windows/process.rb:132:in
