Problem stopping services
Hi all, I noticed that the Instiki service that I setup (http://rubyforge.org/docman/view.php/85/107/instiki_service_tutorial.txt), for example, seems to have no problem stopping when I use the command line. However, if I try to use the administrator GUI tool to stop it, it hangs for a long time, and finally dies. Anyone know why this might be? Regards, DAn

FW: [Mongrel] Broken win32 service support for lastest mongrels.
Hi all, I''ve forwarded this from the Mongrel mailing list to see if anyone has any thoughts. In summary, Luis is hitting broken pipe errors on occasion when he tries to stop a service. In a later email Luis mentions that simply ignoring them might not always be the best idea, since sometimes the service seems to no longer respond, even though it still appears to be running fine. A quick announcement
Hi all, In light of Curt''s decision to use VC++ 6 to build the latest one click installer, along with what are undoubtedly future compatibility problems between old and new compilers, I think it''s best if we try to move over the simpler packages to a pure Ruby solution using Win32API. I have started that process by releasing pure Ruby versions of win32-clipboard and

win32-shortcut problems
Hi all, I''ve started porting the Win32::Shortcut Perl module over to Ruby. I''ve done some initial work and committed it to CVS (look under win32utils - I goofed and made a toplevel dir as well - it''s empty). Anyway, everything compiles fine, but when I do "s = Shortcut.new" I get a weird error: test.rb:11:in `initialize'': undefined method

RE: win32etc test failure
For delete_user, try this patch: etc.c, line 639: - lpHost = (LPCWSTR)STR2CSTR(rbHost); +lpHost = AllocWideLString(rbHost); Lemme know how it goes. Ruby syntax question, I think ...
I am successfully navigating between controllers. However, I am unable to construct a new child (question) record. What does "undefined method `stringify_keys!'' really mean"? I think I am missing a subtlety of Ruby syntax here, since the question_controller is actually trying to call the Question constructor. Can someone point out what I am missing please? Thanks in

Win32 service and blocking code in service_main
Hello mailing list! Sorry for the personal/private mail I sent to Daniel and Park, but just a few minutes ago I subscribed to this list. I have found the solution, for webrick, mongrel and other webserver (well I guess). If the code in service_main is blocked (like the webrick dispatcher), the service_main function never exit/left, so service.mainloop never terminates and service control

CVS layout question
I notice that open3 exists in both /win32utils/win32-open3/lib/win32 and /win32utils/win32-open3 and that there are recent commits in each area. Pure ruby win32-process now in CVS
Hi all, I''ve committed what I think is a complete version of win32-process in pure Ruby. The new version is in the toplevel CVS directory. You''ll need to grab the latest windows-pr from CVS as well. If there are any errors, or any comments that are incorrect, please let me know. Otherwise, I''m planning on a release this weekend. Thanks, Dan
