Are these BUGS? anyone experienced either of these?
I have experienced a couple of (minor) problems with Samba
Thought I would report these and ask if they are known problems.
1. Problem with "!" in username map file
2. Samba tools e.g. smbstatus, testparm not accounting for "config file"
parameter
1. There appears to be a problem with a minor part of username map file
interpretation.
When I put an exclamation mark

win32-etc-0.2.2 testing wanted
I''ve commited code for win32-etc 0.2.2, which adds the configure_user and
configure_group methods. Testing appreciated. On my home system, I can''t
get configure_user to work, but I haven''t any real idea why it fails. The
configure_group method seems to work fine, however.

admin users = user0 (how force admin permission?)
Hi folks :-)
in a samba share I've:
valid users = user0 user1 user2 user3
admin users = user0
If I write a new file by user0 (admin) this file has root permission:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root user0 131870 2010-08-06 15:35 20100806 name_of_file
can I force to have an user0 permission like this (maintening admin user
option in samba?):
-rw-r--r-- 1 user0 user0 131870 2010-08-06 15:35

Problem deleting/renaming files
Hi - We have been using a samba configuration file similar to that
listed below for some years without issue. However when carrying it over
to a new server running Samba 3.4.0 (-3ubuntu5.1), we started
experiencing problems deleting files via Windows Explorer; attempts to
do so are resulting in 'Access is denied'. Similarly, attempting to
change the name of a file or directory is

missing level of a nested factor results in an NA in lm output
Hello All,
I have posted to this list before regarding the same issue so I
apologize for the multiple e-mails. I am still struggling with this
issue so I thought I'd give it another try. This time I have included
reproducible code and a subset of the data I am analyzing.
I am running an ANOVA with three factors: GROUP (5 levels), FEATURE

imap-login crashes after upgrade to Dovecot 1.2.8 Linux 64-bit
Hi all,
We moved our Dovecot installation first of all to have all folders and
inboxes on NetApps via NFS (with indexes local) then from a physical
Solaris 8 4-way UltraSparc server running Dovecot 1.2.5 (32-bit) to a
virtualised Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit server with a single virtual processor
(in VMWare ESX 3.5) running Dovecot 1.2.8 (64-bit).
Since the change, many of our users have experienced

Problem listing group membership from Windows
I planned using ifmember.exe from Windows 2000 resource kit to map the right
drive-mappings to the right shares with logon-scripts. Unfortunately it seems
as ifmember simply doesnt report the right groups for the users.
Even tho "id user1" shows the right groups;
"uid=2082(user1) gid=1002(Group1)roups=1002(Group1),545(Users),1000(Group0)",

Group "None" after synching to a windows machine?
Hi,
I'm using cwrsync with rsync 3.0.8 atm and after syncing a file to Strato
HiDrive and back to the local machine the new permissions contain
this entry:
None (UK-DT-01\None)
with Read, Execute; Read and Write (allowed) permissions.
It takes a few seconds before this entry is displayed with this name, in the
meantime it is only a sid (and the user icon has a red question mark in the

Samba 3 handles Linux permissions differently then Samba 2 ?
Hi,
we have a problem with permissions migrating from a custom 2.4 kernel Linux
distro with Samba 2.2.5 to OpenSuSE 10.3 (with samba 3.0.26).
We used to have directories like this (relative to the Samba share):
/root/dir0/dir1/dir2/dir3/userdir1-1/userdir1-2
'root' and all it's parent directories have '0755' Linux permission.
dir0-dir3 all have '0711' permissions

Small Bug with username map (2.2.5)
Hi, there appears to be a problem with a minor part of username map file
interpretation.
When I put an exclamation mark before a line in the file, that is supposed
to stop any further mapping if a match has already been made.
That's what I understand to be the case.
This is not happening for me.
When I connect from a Win2k machine as Administrator, the log file
records the mapping from

Doveadm director flush/remove
I've got a couple more issues with the doveadm director interface:
1) If I use "doveadm director remove" to disable a host with active users,
the director seems to lose track of users mapped to that host. I guess I
would expect it to tear down any active sessions by killing the login
proxies, like I'd done 'doveadm direct add HOSTNAME 0 && doveadm director
flush

random effects in library mgcv
Hi,
I am working with gam models in the mgcv library. My response variable (Y) is binary (0/1), and my dataset contains repeated measures over 110 individuals (same number of 0/1 within a given individual: e.g. 345-zero and 345-one for individual A, 226-zero and 226-one for individual B, etc.). The variable Factor is separating the individuals in three groups according to mass (group 0,1,2),
