[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.9.99.901
Ok, I think we've done enough damage for one release. Thanks everyone
for pulling a long weekend to get changes prepared and reviewed.
We're still missing the threaded input stuff, but that needs more review
and I think we wore Tiago out this time around. If someone wants to
propose merging it after the freeze, I think we should consider doing
it.
Note that this tarball depends on

any suggestions to deal with 'Argument list too long' for a R CMD check?
Since, gcc was using upwards of 2gb of ram to compile my package, I
just split all the functions into individual files.
I guess I'm too clever for myself, because now I get hit with the
"Argument list too long" error.
Is there a way to deal with this aside from writing my own configure
script (which could possibly feed the gcc commands one by one).

Memory management issues
Hi everybody,
I have been interfacing some C++ library code into an R package but
ran into optimization issues specific to memory management that require
some insight into the GC.
One of the C++ libraries returns simple vectors of integers, doubles and
complex which are allocated and managed from the library itself. I
cannot know the length of the array beforehand, so I cannot
pre-allocate that

Where can I find information on how to subsample a time series?
I suspect I'm looking in the wrong places, so guidance to the relevant
documentation would be as welcome as a little code snippet.
I have time series data stored in a MySQL database. There is the usual DATE
field, along with a double precision number: there are daily values
(including only normal working days: Monday through Friday). I actually
have to do a couple things here. Because of

beginner's guide to C++ programming with R packages?
Hello, again.
I'm interested to learn how programmers develop & test C/C++ code with
R packages in Linux. I've been reading R source and the manual on
Writing R Extensions but there are just a couple of details I can't
understand. I wish I could watch over a developer's shoulder to see
how people actually do this.
I've tested a bit. I am able to take package.tar.gz

Running Puppet with Ruby 1.9.3 on RHEL/Centos 6.4
My apologies in advance if this is a solved problem (which I hope it is),
but I''ve been looking for answers for a while and haven''t found anything
substantive.
Our standard OS version is moving from CentOS 5.8 to CentOS 6.4. We''re
simultaneously getting ready to move from puppet 2.7 to 3.x. A significant
amount of effort has been undertaken in the past to build

Slow loading with Ruby 1.9.3 and FXRuby 1.6.23
We have been using Ruby 1.8.6 and FXRuby 1.6.16 under Windows, from the old
one step installer.
The following code takes less than a second to load and execute on my
five-year old Windows XP PC.
puts ''Starting''
require ''fox16''
puts ''Done''
With Ruby 1.9.3 and FXRuby 1.6.23, it takes 12 or more seconds. Both tests
are with all files on

puppet 2.7.11 + ruby 1.9.3 + passenger
So does anyone have a working setup with puppet 2.7.11 + ruby 1.9.3 + passenger?
I am currently using rack-1.0.1 (rack-1.4.1 had same behavior) and
passenger 3.0.11, and I get some authentication problems (shown
below). If I use an auth.conf that is wide open (auth any, allow *),
the agent can successfully retrieve his catalog and plugins and apply
them. Using webrick works fine as well.

After moving from Ruby 1.8.7 to 1.9.3 - test/unit/error (LoadError)
People,
For my old library app I did with Rails 2.1.1, if I use Fedora 16/Ruby
1.8.6, everything is OK. If I copy the app to a Fedora 17/Ruby 1.9.3
setup and reinstall all the old Gems and run:
./script/server
I get:
/usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/custom_require.rb:55:in `require'': cannot
load such file -- test/unit/error (LoadError)

Make for Ruby 1.9.3 results in "cc1: out of memory allocating X bytes after a total of Y bytes"
I am unable to install RoR on a VPS running RedHat Linux with 512 MB. When
I run "make" and "make install" I get the following output/error below.
What can I do to resolve this memory problem?
It appears I should have sufficient memory to install. I included the
results of "make" and "free" to show the failure as well as the available
memory.
Thanks
