Need a little help with the pure Ruby win32-eventlog
Hi all, I''m working on the EventLog#read method for the pure Ruby version of win32-eventlog, but I''m stuck on the get_description private method. Here are the problems: * I don''t think I''m advancing the EVENTLOGRECORD properly between iterations. Take a look at the end of the "while dwread > 0" loop. I get some records, but not all of them.

Pure Ruby TCP Daemon
Hi all, I created a "pure" branch on github that uses the code Heesob posted a while back: http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/win32utils-devel/2008-November/001274.html However, I couldn''t make it work on my Vista laptop. c:\Users\djberge\Repositories\win32-service\examples>ruby demo_daemon_ctl.rb start VERSION: 0.8.0

Need some help with pure Ruby win32-changenotify
Hi all, I know it''s deprecated, but people seem to still be using win32-changenotify, so I thought I''d see if I could make it pure Ruby. Also, I thought it would be a good opportunity to test passing a custom Win32::Event object. I''m mostly done I think, but I''m having trouble unraveling the FILE_NOTIFY_INFORMATION struct buffer. Please check out the

Pure win32-thread library?
Hi all, Here''s my initial stab at a pure Ruby win32-thread library that doesn''t work at all. I''m not sure how to pass the start address of the arguments to the callback. I thought about Marshal, but you can''t marshal a proc. BTW, the CreateThread method in windows-pr needs to be updated for this to have any hope of success. Any ideas? Thanks, Dan #

Yet another data structure + pack/unpack question (win32-service)
Hi all, If you take a look at the service.rb file in the win32-service repository (the new one in the toplevel repository path), I''ve got this bit of code, which succeeds, but I can''t seem to unpack the data structure properly. Did I pack it wrong to begin with? I should know this but I''m spacing out. proc_status =

Problem with the new version of win32-process
Hi all, Well, I''ve messed something up in the pure Ruby Process.fork method. If you run the test_fork_waitpid.rb file (in CVS), you''ll see this error: c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/windows/process.rb:132:in `call'': can''t convert false into Integer (TypeError) from c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/windows/process.rb:132:in `OpenProcess''

win32-process - mixing Process into Object
I''ve committed a new version of process.c, which removes the Win32 toplevel module/namespace and defines the methods directly in the Process module. One thing I want to accomplish, however, is the ability to call fork() without having to using the Process constant, i.e. fork vs Process.fork. In pure Ruby, you can do this: module Process def fork puts "fork!" end

The win32-service patch is committed - and now, some questions
Hi all, I *finally* committed the patch from Patrick Hurley (you know, the one he submitted way back in June). Looks like it works. I''ve also revamped the code under the examples directory. There''s now a tdaemon.rb (the test daemon) and tdaemon_ctl.rb (the test daemon controller). Before I release this into the wild I want to make sure I document how to use it properly.

win32-service cvs - potential issue with Service.services
Hi all, I''m preparing win32-service for an 0.5.1 release. I''ve made a couple minor changes and altered the test suite a bit. It passes on my box here, except that about half the time I get this error: 1) Error: test_services(TC_Win32Service): Win32::ServiceError: OpenService() call failed: The handle is invalid. test/tc_service.rb:227:in `services''

Fw: re. win32-process
Hi all, Any ideas for the question below? I know how to do this in theory - make the ''inherit'' flag true, and set the ''stdout'' and ''stderr'' startf_flags hash options to something in the startup_info hash, but I wasn''t sure how to do this in practice. It would be nice if the answer could be something like this: require

Pure Ruby win32-open3, win32-service?
Hi all, I can''t remember - with callback support in our win32-api library now, can we turn win32-open3 and win32-service (specifically, the Daemon class) into pure Ruby libraries? If not, is there anything we could possibly add to win32-api so that we *could* make them pure Ruby? Thanks, Dan This communication is the property of Qwest and may contain confidential or privileged

Fwd: win32/process - small bug?
It might be a bit before I can get to this, so I thought I''d pass it on. Also, while I was stuck in the airport in Minneapolis, I decided that the getrlimit method should be refactored to remove the process from the job (if it wasn''t already in one) after it''s finished, if possible. Reworking win32-mmap for the pure Ruby version
Hi all, I was looking at win32-mmap today. I thought it might be worth it to rewrite this one as pure Ruby. In the process, I decided I don''t really like the current API very much. Just feels too clunky and not very friendly. I think we followed Win32::MMF too closely. Anyway, I have a very preliminary version in CVS that I was hoping folks could take a look at and comment on.

win32-taskscheduler and TaskScheduler#account_information
Hi, This library has needed some work for a while, so I''m finally getting around to it. I''ve made some changes and updates in CVS, so grab the latest source to test the issue below. The first issue I''d like to tackle is why the TaskScheduler#account_information (GetAccountInformation) method fails if there''s no user associated with a given task. The docs
