still seeking way to recover card after cursor disappears or card locks up
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a question about how to recover a card (an Asus ENGT430 card, which the box says is a GeForce GT 430, running Mageia 1 with kernel 2.6.38.8-server-10.mga) when the cursor had disappeared or the card had locked up while exiting X. Thanks to Vincent Pelletier for for suggesting chvt. That command does work to change the console, just as Alt-Ctrl-F(n) for 1 <= n

Lockups ENGT430 (NVc0), failed to unbind.
Twice in a little over a week, nouveau has locked up on my system with an Asus ENGT430 that is "Detected [as] an NVc0 generation card (0x0c1080a1)" at boot time. OS is Mageia 2, kernel 3.4.45-server-1.mga2. At the time of both lockups, I had a couple dozen Firefox windows plus several other miscellaneous windows open. Here are the some snippets from /var/log/messages a few days before

[BUG] Kernel oops when unbinding the graphics card
Hello! This is the summary of a discussion I had on IRC with Lyude and imirkin_. When I try to turn off my graphics card, a kernel oops occurs. Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot the system with no display manager enabled 2. Using SSH, run the following commands: $ echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/vtconsole/vtcon0/bind $ echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/vtconsole/vtcon1/bind $ echo 1 | sudo tee

any way to recover card after cursor disappears or card locks up
With an Asus ENGT430 card, which the box says is a GeForce GT 430, and with 64-bit Mageia 1 with kernel 2.6.38.8-server-10.mga, about once a week, the mouse cursor disappears from at least one monitor or the display locks up when exiting X. (I use runlevel 3 and startx.) Usually, if the cursor disappears and I then exit X, the display will lock up showing the X root window background. Once the

wfb patches
These patches are pretty much done, except for a compile warning somewhere. The major remaining bottleneck is this line (as far as i can tell): offset -= (unsigned long) pPixmap->devPrivate.ptr; A significant amount of samples is spent on that, so suggestions on how to improve that are appreciated. I'm out of time for the moment. I'm curious how this performs for other people

Xen VGA Passthrough Questions
Dear David Techer, I have read through your article on Xen VGA passthrough on http://www.davidgis.fr. It appears that the following command on your blog doesn''t work. dmesg | grep 01:00.0 | grep BAR The above command shows nothing at all. Is there an alternative solution? Thank you very much. Yours sincerely, Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming)

Xorg cursor instead of wine's (or even changing wine's default cursor)
Is there a way to hide wine's default cursor or change it or use Xorg's cursor? (I did ask this on IRC last night, but only 1 person responding he/she didn't think so, so I'm asking on the list just to be sure). Reason for this is, I have found a mouse.c patch that enables a sort of HW OpenGL cursor for WoW. (Basically shows the wine hw cursor instead of hiding it, then with a

GeForce GTS 250M: no acceleration...
Good day. I am Carlo - living in the Netherlands. Today I came in possession of a MSI-produced barebone laptop - a MS-1656-ID1 (which is equivalent in hardware to the GT640 "gaming" laptop). This laptop comes wih a video card that is identified as follows: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT215 [GeForce GTS 250M] (rev a2) (pci ID 10de:0ca9). For your info, the

An embarrassment of riches
I have a dataset which I am trying to smooth, using locally weighted regression. The y values are count data, integers with Poisson distribution, and it is important for the regression function to know this, since assuming a Gaussian distribution will lead to substantial errors. It is a time series; the x values have equal five minute intervals. Here is the problem: I have an embarrassment

Vegetarian enough?
Vegetarian enough? People often tell me about how they get grief from people who are "more" vegetarian than them. Isn''t that strange? People who can be bothered to make a life changing decision are then chastised by the super veggies for not trying hard enough. http://2site.com/agfdxz Road Map To Riches - Another 2-UP Scam Road Map To Riches is yet Another 2-Up scheme in
