Hi Is VGA passthrough with an nvidia optimus laptop remotely feasible? For those who don''t know, nvidia optimus is two hardware cards, connected to the same display. One sandy bridge setup (I use the intel driver for this), and one nvidia card. I have a laptop with this setup, and usually I''m using only the intel card. Have a look right here: http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-linux-advanced-power-management.html#installation There are only fedora related packages but none for RHEL/CentOS. The discrete gpu is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM Using Fedora 17; up to kernel 3.3.7-1 I was able to use bumblebee and bbswitch and then running optirun command (as I could do in F16). The present code assumes that optimus is present whenever two VGA (PCI_CLASS_DISPLAY_VGA) devices are present. This does not seem to be the case of newer laptops with optimus, in which case the nvidia gpu is a PCI_CLASS_DISPLAY_3D device. Rework the logic so that we count both VGA and 3D devices, when contemplating if optimus is present on the platform. Bugzilla:
