nouveau on opensuse 11 request for help
Hi, all, I just installed opensuse 11, 64-bit from the kde live cd. I use icewm - gnome and kde desktops are too busy and windowish for my taste, but a lot of programs that I run depend on kde. My video card is a geforce 7600. I'm using the nvidia driver because I couldn't figure out any other way to have dual-monitor support. I am new to opensuse, having used debian lenny previously,

CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous (spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected) monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024, nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server

Multi Head Cube rotation
Hi, I pulled compiz from GIT yesterday to see if I could get proper multi-head support. I think the current status is great, but I have one little suggestion to make. The current behavior is that we have two viewpoints of the "cube" (it's more like a body with eight side planes now). If it's rotated one step we skip one of the planes. Rotating four times is enough to go round

Does anyone know how to do this?

Rotate a plot, and subplot
Hi all, Is there a way to rotate a plot, e.g. a histogram, by a certain angle (90/180/270 degress)? I spent hours trying to figure out how this is done, but without success. Also, I'm looking for an equivalent to the S-Plus "subplot" command to insert a kind of "thumbnail" graphic into a bigger one. How is this best done in R? Thanks for your help Pascal

KMS instructions
Hello, I'm using nouveau in a NV44 for some time now. I specially use randr in a rotated/dualhead setup with 2 monitors (15' and 19'). In my last build, randr stopped to work. If I change resolution/rotate/span a screen, xorg crashes. I wrote a simple script to update nouveau, build and install. I'm attaching it. Feel free to do anything with it. I didn't find any

Rotating the x-axis labels of a barplot
Dear listserv, Here is my latest formatting problem. I would like to rotate the x-axis labels by 45 degrees on a _barplot_. Apparently this is slightly different from the example given in the R FAQ, which is for rotating the x-axis labels on a scatterplot (http://cran.r-project.org/doc/FAQ/R-FAQ.html#How-can-I-create-rotated-axis-labels_003f). I have adapted that code, as best I could, and

I'd like to rotate x-axis labels to get a diagonal orientation (rather than horizontal or vertical), this would result in an easier read, any ideas? thanks, Gitta

Rotate/edge-flip and jumping mouse pointer
Hi, I'm using running Xgl/compiz on Gentoo/AMD64/2006.0, with xgl-0.0.1_p20060418 and compiz-quinnstorm-0.0.9.3 on Gnome 2.14. I love the edge-flip feature of rotate, but I sometimes have a problem where, after edge-flipping the mouse pointer seems to jump to the opposite window edge which starts rotating the cube to the next desktop, so I start moving the pointer back, whereupon it jumps

Rotating a distribution plot by 90 degrees
Hi, Can I rotate a plot (e.g. a distribution plot) by 90 degrees? The barplot function provides the "horiz" command but that's not availeable for the base package functions. I found an old advice from Paul Murrell on a similar problem suggesting to use viewports (grid package). Yet I couldn't reproduce his examples successfully. And going through the examples in the current grid

rotate text using mtext
Hello, I wish to write a label to the right-hand side of a plot (side=4) using mtext, with the text facing inwards - that is, rotated 180 degrees from the default orientation. How might I do this? (I've tried experimenting with las but no luck.) Thanks, Rashmi Rashmi Mathur Master's Candidate Fisheries Science and Management Research Group School of Resource and Environmental

rotate * log file?
Running fc3 with current cvs-head... Is there a nice way to rotate the /var/log/asterisk/messages file without shutting down asterisk? I'm currently rotating the log files via cron, however my script requires asterisk to be shut down, which also kills any outstanding cli sessions (eg, asterisk -rvvvvv). Would like to rotate the files without killing the cli session. Any reasonable way to

Scatterplot3d :: Rotating x tick labels by x degrees
Hi Alex, this should be related to the "las" argument of "par()" but actually it does not seem to be parametered in scatterplot3d. Searching the net for "scatterplot3d las" provides a link to: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25458652/specifying-the-orientation-of-the-axes-labels-in-scatterplot3d You may try the solution that is provided in this link or consider

How to rotate the axisnames in a BARPLOT
Hi all, - how can I do a barplot with rotated axis labels? I've seen the example for just a plot in the FAQ, but I'll missing the coordinates to plot my text at the right position beneath the bars. Is there any (easy?) solution? - how can I set the y-axis in a barplot to logarithmic scale? Many thanks in advance! Best Regards Tom --

Log rotation and combining...
That doesn?t seem to work either. Where do I find logs for log rotation to see the reason it failed? So, the question is, why can I rotate the log manually, but cron returns a permission error? Do I need to tell cron to run it as sudo or something like that? help with x config on centos 5.1
Hi all, Typically I dont have issues with configuring X. However this time its an issue. I have an NVIDIA graphics card trying to do 1920x1080. If I configure the screen by hand with the nvidia config utility it works at 1920x1080. However when I reboot its 800x600. When I use the nvidia config utility to set 1920x1080 then save the xorg.conf file, and reboot (yes I copied /tmp/xorg.conf to
