6.1 responsiveness under heavy (cpu?) load + thread monitoring
Hello, I have a RELENG_6/AMD64 with an AMD64X2 cpu, 1GB of memory, 512MB swap. I remarked that when I run 2 simulation program [1], sometimes, one of them run one or several of its threads [2] very slowly, but sometimes, it doesn't occur. I remarked that is doesn't depend on SMP/UP, ULE/4BSD, i386/AMD64. It seems to occur also with the kernel stress test under the same conditions (all

Different goodness of fit tests leads to contradictory conclusions
I am trying to test goodness of fit for my legalistic regression using several options as shown below.  Hosmer-Lemeshow test (whose function I borrowed from a previous post), Hosmer–le Cessie omnibus lack of fit test (also borrowed from a previous post), Pearson chi-square test, and deviance test.  All the tests, except the deviance tests, produced p-values well above 0.05.  Would anyone please

Appropriate tests for logistic regression with a continuous predictor variable and Bernoulli response variable
I have a data with binary response variable, repcnd (pregnant or not) and one predictor continuous variable, svl (body size) as shown below. I did Hosmer-Lemeshow test as a goodness of fit (as suggested by a kind “R-helper” previously). To test whether the predictor (svl, or body size) has significant effect on predicting whether or not a female snake is pregnant, I used the differences between

odd 'digital' sound artifacts
Hi, I've got some weird sound artifacts happening during calls, they're very hard to describe, so I have a 122kb recording: http://openprojects.rarcoa.com/~miztic/artifact.wav normally the artifacts are just short blips, not quite as long as the one above, but they sound the same. When using the aggressive echo suppressor, it seems like those artifacts cause a really loud buzzing sound to

But after reboot the startup stops with the kernel panic, that it doesn''t find the modules folder.... its an Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA Board with nForce3 250 chipset, and the HDD is on Sata I compiled my own kernel, and tried with the AMD and Nvidia IDE Driver

SWAT is working but shows smbd/nmbd: not running
Hi all, I had nForce3 motherboard that has broken. Than I bought nForce4 motherboard. I connected old hard disk to this new nForce4 motherboard. For net and sound support I download drivers from nvidia.com site. This driver asks kernel source to be on local disk and gcc compiler. After I installed kernel source and gcc, driver is successfully installed. >From that point (but maybe it is

unexpected mass closing of terminal windows
Hello, I apologize if this isn't quite the right spot to ask, but I did some googling on fc6, rhel5, centos5, terminal closings, etc and came up blank. Three times since I installed CentOS5 on this machine (11 days ago), I have had ***all my my terminal windows spontaneously exit***. For example: just now, I have a CD playing, firefox open with a few tabs, and emacs open. I also had ~5

Why do <none>s appear in the list of predictor variables in logistic regression using 'step' or 'stepAIC' function?
Would anyone help me solve my problem with R, please? I am very new to R. I am doing logistic regression analysis on the presence/absence of salamanders using several predictor variables, as shown below. I have checked my data, but I didn't find any 'NA' or empty cells. When I used step() or stepAIC to select significant predictor variables, <none>s appear to places where

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.18.99.902
Here's 1.19-RC2, which should be pretty close to 1.19. The only serious bug I'm aware of at this point is a crash in FlushAllOutput: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1382444 Adam Jackson (5): glamor: Fall back to software for CopyPlane if we need to xephyr: Don't crash if the server advertises zero xv adaptors test: Re-enable a couple of GetImage

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.19.99.902
This merges the DRI3 1.2 support (with an asterisk) and per-window flips for Xwayland, along with the usual collection of miscellaneous fixes. In particular the meson build is much closer to production- ready. The asterisk for DRI3 is that the modesetting driver has some known issues still, so the code to enable planes and modifiers is hidden behind an xorg.conf option: Section

First release in the 1.18 stable branch. Major themes are bugfixes in glamor, the modesetting driver, and the Present extension. Xwayland users may want to apply the following pair of patches in addition to this release: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/72945/raw/ https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/72951/raw/ which combined fix an input issue when hotplugging monitors. Histogram with two groups on the same graph (not on separate panels)
I have been trying to produce a histogram that has two groups (male and female snakes) on the same graph (either superimposed or each frequency bar appears side by side). I found a couple of functions for superimposed histogram written by other people. The below is the codes I used for my data containing a column of svl (body size; snout-vent length) and another column of sex (male or female).
