[PATCH] backlight: Avoid double fbcon backlight handling
Backlights controlled by i915.ko and only associated with its connectors
and also only associated with the intel_drmfb fbcon, controlled by
i915.ko. In this situation, we already handle adjusting the backlight
when the fbcon is blanked/unblanked and do not require backlight trying
to do the same.
Attempting to register with the fbdev as a client causes lockdep to warn
about a dependency cycle:

[PATCH 1/2] nouveau/bl: Assign different names to interfaces
Currently, every backlight interface created by Nouveau uses the same name,
nv_backlight. This leads to a sysfs warning as it tries to create an already
existing folder. This patch adds a incremented number to the name, but keeps
the initial name as nv_backlight, to avoid possibly breaking userspace; the
second interface will be named nv_backlight1, and so on.

[PATCH REBASED 2/2] nouveau/bl: Do not register interface if Apple GMUX detected
The Apple GMUX is the one managing the backlight, so there is no need for
Nouveau to register its own backlight interface.

Put acpi/backlight code into kernel
Hi,
I'm trying to bring devs to support for backlight on nv50 cards for above 1
year, without any success
A lot of laptop (from mac, hp, samsung) doesn't have laptop_panel in hal, and
therefore no support for acpi/backlight..., and no entry in /proc/acpi/video
nor /sys/class/backlight
Kernel team is not reacting, hal team won't fix, devicekit need standardise
i/o...

Cisco 7960 backlight and list etiquette?
Hi
I've taken apart a 7960 to fit a backlight to the LCD.
Would others on the list be interested in this as a project when I've finished (i.e. should I document and photo all the stages)?
Also I can source some 7960's at a very good price but what are the rules about posting this information on the list if others were interested?

[PATCH 0/5] drm/nouveau: Backlight fixes and cleanup
This series fixes some issues with nouveau's backlight support that were
causing kernel panics on module reloads, specifically on systems with
nouveau handling the backlight of one of the displays.
While we're at it, let's cleanup nouveau_backlight.c as well

[PATCH v3 0/9] fbdev: Clean up include dependencies in header
Remove unnecessary dependencies in the include statements of the
header file <linux/fb.h>. Several files throughout the kernel include
the fbdev header, so reducing dependencies positively affects other
subsystems as well. Also fix up corgi-lcd, nouveau and fbtft, which
need backlight.h in some of their source files.

Gnome annoyances
How do I disable /usr/libexec/gsd-backlight-helper on a user's
