e-sword under a tiling WM
I've been using pytyle, but it seems this condition is common to most tiling wms. Basically, some wine apps get handled (opensong and 'i wanna be the guy' are the ones that do on my system), but some don't, e-sword being one that doesn't.
pytyle does automatic tiling, fitting the windows in a defined pattern on the screen. It just does not see e-sword, somehow, but has no

I do run devilspie on several CentOS 6 (and 7) boxes w/o any issue. I
didn't think devilspie and wmctrl provide the same features, in the
meaning that devilspie automates what wmctrl does, but maybe I was

Devilspie or wmctrl for CentOS 6
I am not sure they provide the same features.
I do use wmctrl with some key shortcuts to move windows between my 2 monitors.

Trouble with Rails/Ri18n
Hi,
I am new to Ruby/Rails but totally fall in love with :D
Nonetheless, today I am totally stuck with Ri18n. I basically followed
the 10 Steps to Make Your Rails Apps Multilingual. No errors are
thrown,
the english version works as before with the freshly added <%= _('''') %>
Still, no translations are performed. Setting I18nService.instance.lang
= ''de''

windows opening off screen
Hi,
I'm having problems with windows which open off-screen and are thus inaccessible. Until recently, I ran my laptop with an external monitor in a dual-screen configuration. Now, I'm back to a single screen, but some wine apps appear to be trying to start up elsewhere.
So, I can verify that the program is running using ps and xwininfo:

Program loses focus
I am using Ubuntu 10.04, currently with Wine v.1.2.2. I have installed a program called NoteTab Pro, which is listed in the Wine database as running just fine for the most part. And it has ran fine for years under Wine 1.0 (which I was running until recently doing a new install of Ubuntu 10.04, which uses 1.2.2). There was a minor glitch or two but I got used to them. However, now, running under

Difference in gnome between centos <> fedora
Hello,
I've on my home PC CentOS 6 and Fedora 13 on different disks. When I log
on the gnome enviroment at Fedora knows exactly which programm was started
at which desktop (for example: thunderbird on desktop 1, firefox on
desktop 2, nautilus on desktop 3, ..). The same procedure on Centos takes
all programs on the first desktop, so I must arrange the programs on the
right desktop.

Applications on different deskops at startup
Hi,
I've just converted my laptop to Centos 6 from Fedora ( gnome 3 made
the latest fedora unusable ) and I have one problem.
I have several desktops with applications running on them, mainly
terminals. At login all the terminals start on desktop 1. How do I get
them to start on the desktop they were running on at logoff. That's how
it worked on Fedora 13/14 so it must be popssible

question on virtual desktops
centos has the 4 virtual desktops by default.
if I have a terminal window open in desktop 1
is there a command I can execute (type in) to switch to desktop 2?
The mouse will not be attached at this point and I want to switch views
using a command line. How do I do that?
Thanks,

SYSLINUX: Cannot read ldlinux.sys
My question is the following:
I need to "syslinux" a harddisk(partition-type is FAT16, size is about
100mb). I created a Dos-Bootdisk with WindowsXP and removed everything
except command.com, io.sys and msdos.sys. Then I copied syslinux.com
(and even ldlinux.sys) to the disk but nothing seems to help, I always
get the "SYSLINUX: Cannot read ldlinux.sys"-error. Should I use

Extracting the window (titlebar) name from a bash script?
Surely there' s a way to obtain the "window name" -which appears on
the Window Manager' s Titlebar- for running processes, right?.
Well, I can't find it...
I mean, the names that appear below each icon when you alt-tab to
switch an app to the foreground.
Is there a simple way to obtain that data along with matching PIDs,
from a Bash script? any built-in tools that provide

netwm dbus api
FYI, I have put up a forum post [1] where I am going to
maintain information about the netwm api for the
dbus plugin.
I have gone through the EWMH spec [2] and broken it down
into a dbus compatible api, it seems to be good and roughly
compatible with the existing compiz one.
I think everything should be self explanitory, if there are
any comments or if there is anything I have misunderstood

Problems with _NET_WM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS and screen refreshing
re, all...
I tried to create an account on bugs.opencompositing.org to report this, but
I never got an e-mail back from the account-creation process. Is this the
right URI to be reporting bugs for Compiz?
Anyway, I've found a couple of bugs that affect applications that use the
_NET_WM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS EWMH hint. I believe these are regressions since
Compiz 0.8.0, but am not 100% sure.
