Compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 -- Success! But need help with a few issues.
Dominique, cc: compiz, Dominique, you wanted the feedback, and List, I need your help. I have installed and fully configured (kicked the tires) on compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 and on balance it is great. There are a few weird things going on. Most notably, the number of options in ccsm that now uncheck themselves. In the past (compiz 0.5.6 - 0.8.2) there may have been one or two that would stick

Howto uninstall compiz from Kubuntu
Compiz: A colleague tempted me with compiz eye candy, and I tried it. Sorry, but many features were too far outside my usability comfort zone: - lazy mouse (in /this/ day and age???) - The Run window did not reliably pop up - minimize-all-windows turned everything black Some of those items were configurable. Some required multiple, diverse reconfigurations to fix. I couldn't fix the

Can't Turn OFF compiz autostart since 0.7.4.x
Devs, compiz listmates: Why can't I turn off compiz autostart on openSuSE 10.3 i386? Compiz just decided to start automatically with KDE login ever since I upgraded to the first 0.7.4.x release from the openSuSE build service. I have tried to disable it by creating the file "disable-compiz" in ~/.config/compiz but compiz still starts at login. Even if I switch to kwin before

CentOS7/Mate Qt bugs/features?
We have recently migrated from CentOS6/Gnome to CentOS7/Mate - and have noticed 'glitches' with some Qt applications that appears to be linked to the 'org.mate.Marco.general' 'compositing-manager' setting - and wondered how we 'fix' the issue ... Below is a PyQT4 python script that shows the issues: 1. With 'compositing-manager' set to 'true' (I

decorators for models?
Hi! I''m thinking of implementing datagrid like functionality for showing data (models) in grids so that I don''t have to re-invent the view/controller for each table I need. There are number of parameters that need to be customizable: column titles, row style depending on the data (i.e. showing all rows with balance<0 in red), is column sortable, sort-algorithm etc. To

Disable auto window maximize
Job #1 for me with CentOS 7 is to disable the automatic window maximization. Some googling found this command: $ gsettings set org.gnome.mutter auto-maximize false No such schema 'org.gnome.mutter' and this: $ gsettings set orh.gnome.shell.overrides edge-tiling false but that had no visible effect. I couldn't find anything under Applications->documentation and I didn't see

Gnome 3 on centos 7
Hi all - almost have my migration to Centos 7 done... My last piece is finding a way to keep menus away from users on Gnome 3. gsettings took me pretty far, to remap gconf-tool to gsettings. I also removed two packages gnome-shell-extension-places-menu gnome-shell-extension-app-menu This removed the Places and Apps menu options in the top panel. However - when doing this now I see the menu

There is no 'dconf' executable in CentOS6, at least, not in the standard repos. Are you thinking about gconf-tool? I don't see a way to dump
